In all honesty... I believe communication is key and I am truly sorry to read Cristabelle's experience was not great as all could have been addressed/prevented: -I was never notified of AC issues (maintained twice a year), which I will address and would have done so during Cristabelle's stay should I have known. During the winter the AC tends to get a rest for quite a few months so had not noticed any issues, apologies for that. -There was no violation of Airbnb policy, Cristabelle said she might need to leave early due to visa. I told her I needed to refresh my memory on my cancellation policy (it had been changed at some point around her booking date) and on the refund process as the payment from Airbnb had already been disbursed to me via (Hidden by Airbnb) ... but that regardless she should not worry as it would get sorted. I would however need to process payment not in cash. Visa turned out to be no longer an issue and she chose to stay the remaining days... I told her to do what was best for her, regardless on visa if she wanted to leave... I am at a loss on where the "couldn't leave earlier" issue is. -Ceiling lighting is indeed dim at bed area, which is compensated (or so I thought) with two bed side lamps and with the lighting from the closet area (fully lit along with bathroom). Apologies for not being enough. -I kept the common areas of the apartment clean, gave full access to cleaning supplies (and laundry washer) as well as option to organize for a cleaner... I can only say that the condition in which I found the bathroom might have contributed to the smell factor. Again, I am sorry to hear the experience was far from perfect and I wish I would have had the chance to address concerns and help make it a better one. We did not coincide much at home but still enough to allow her to raise issues or even if just via a quick (Hidden by Airbnb) . I am sorry that she did not feel comfortable doing so, my perception was that she had made herself at home and she did not seem to have issues. Clearly communication failed... which might explain why the day of check-out I woke up at 5am to help Cristabelle out with her luggage for her 5.30am departure as agreed the evening before... and by the time I stepped out ready to go at 5.15... she was sadly gone... All a shame and far from what the Airbnb experience aims to be.
