Come stay at my spacious (1,100 sq ft) and accommodating 160 year old shotgun house in the vibrant Bywater community of New Orleans. The house is a one bedroom with a living room, dining room, full kitchen and two bathrooms. The living room is equipped with a sleeper sofa which can be used as a bedroom (full bathroom next to it).
Guests enjoy a vast amount of space rarely enjoyed on vacations and all the conveniences of home.
The neighborhood is amazing. The Mississippi river runs right by the house. Boats and breeze make you feel a part of the city and its history.
Guests can roll right out bed and across the street to Elizabeth's for duck confit waffles and praline cooked bacon after dancing the night away at any of the neighborhood's great music venues. Vaughn's is swinging on Thursday night when Kermit Ruffins hits the floor. Mimi's is always on time but especially so on Saturdays when DJ Soul Sister kicks out the rare grooves. The outdoor patio at Bacchanal is just blocks away and always has great wine by the bottle and even better live music. Coffee shops, galleries, and cool junk stores are all in the neighborhood and just steps from your door.
Travel and Leisure Magazine have voted Elizabeths one of the best brunch restaurants in America.
The French Quarter is a beautiful walk or bike/bus ride away... but you wont want to leave the neighborhood.
We also rent bikes for $15 a day!

We had a wonderful experience staying in Robert's Gallier house! Plenty of room for three of us to sleep comfortably & two full bathrooms was a huge advantage. Perfect location to explore the French Quarter during the day & we had a great time checking out fun, local Bywater spots in the evenings. Overall, a perfect New Orleans experience!
Robert is a fantastic host -- he provided clear instructions, lots of excellent nearby suggestions, and was quick to respond to any questions we had.
The apartment is spacious, well-decorated and very comfortable. And the location was perfect for us. We rented bikes from Robert and spent as much time exploring the surrounding Bywater and Marigny area as we did making the easy 10-minute ride to Bourbon and Frenchman Streets.
We would rent this house again in a heartbeat.
Robert's Bywater house was as described and was equipped with everything you could possibly need. We never actually met Robert, but he was very prompt in responding to any question we had via email. The house is located in a very convenient area and close to many awesome neighborhood restaurants and bars. (Of course, I already new this because my daughter lives a few blocks away. :) The house also happens to be a block away from a park along the river. A great area to take a morning run.
Christmas in New Orleans was lovely...so good to get a break from the frigid temps!
Everything was exactly as described and instructions were very clear. Very pleased with my stay and will definitely book again next time in NOLA.
Robert was a great host. He was very easy to work with and open to changes, for example early check in/late check out. He was easy to get ahold of and got back to me right away with answers to my questions. The house was huge, and really nice. There was a great record player with amazing choice of music! It was a quick cab ride (call United cab, they are nearby and the fastest) to the French quarter. Or a fun walk. However there are a few restaurants in the area that are not to miss. Elizabeth's, Bacchanals (amazing food, wine and music) and a top barbecue joint. People come from all over town to experience these restaurants that are right by the house! It's in a nice area and I wish I could live there all the time! :)
We stayed in Roberts beautiful home for 6 fantastic nights, and we left feeling like we should have stayed longer. Robert was always available when to answer any questions we had and he's thoroughly knowledgeable about the nearby area. The atmosphere in his home and neighborhood is amazing! We will carry it with us as a fond memory always. This is definitely a place I will revisit. I highly recommend staying here. Love the location and decor! Five stars!!!
This house has plenty of space! We ended up using the queen air mattress instead of the futon, as we found it to be more comfortable, but we were able to set up both the air mattress available in the home along with the twin air mattress we had brought in the living room side by side and still had space to get around. Street parking was never an issue. There were plenty of towels, linens, and pillows available. The street was very quiet, and we were never disturbed by neighbors or traffic. Several terrific restaurants within walking distance, as described! Robert is very responsive and accommodating and will try to do everything he can to make your stay enjoyable. The mechanism for locking the front gate is a bit tricky, but overall the experience was positive.
