The Space

Come stay at my spacious (1,100 sq ft) and accommodating 160 year old shotgun house in the vibrant Bywater community of New Orleans. The house is a one bedroom with a living room, dining room, full kitchen and two bathrooms. The living room is equipped with a sleeper sofa which can be used as a bedroom (full bathroom next to it).

Guests enjoy a vast amount of space rarely enjoyed on vacations and all the conveniences of home.

The neighborhood is amazing. The Mississippi river runs right by the house. Boats and breeze make you feel a part of the city and its history.
Guests can roll right out bed and across the street to Elizabeth's for duck confit waffles and praline cooked bacon after dancing the night away at any of the neighborhood's great music venues. Vaughn's is swinging on Thursday night when Kermit Ruffins hits the floor. Mimi's is always on time but especially so on Saturdays when DJ Soul Sister kicks out the rare grooves. The outdoor patio at Bacchanal is just blocks away and always has great wine by the bottle and even better live music. Coffee shops, galleries, and cool junk stores are all in the neighborhood and just steps from your door.

Travel and Leisure Magazine have voted Elizabeths one of the best brunch restaurants in America.

The French Quarter is a beautiful walk or bike/bus ride away... but you wont want to leave the neighborhood.

We also rent bikes for $15 a day!

  • Lovely house in the Bywater. Close to Frenchman street and the Quarter. Excellent kitchen and spacious bedroom. Really had a blast staying here. Be sure to try Bacchanal (a few blocks away) if you enjoy wine!

  • This was the best experience to date I have had with traveling through airbnb.
Robert's house was better than presented on the site I felt.
Excellent and will be back next year.

  • We had such a wonderful time in New Orleans in Robert's unique Bywater house. We felt like locals! Robert's place is cozy, comfortable, and clean -- would love to stay here again on our next "Big Easy" adventure. Thank you, Robert, for sharing your place with us and making us feel at home.

  • Belle maison, le quartier est relié au centre par un bus qui passe à peu près toutes les cinquante minutes dans la journée. Le jardin pourrait être mieux entretenu.

  • Bobby's place in the Bywater is the kind of gem you always dream of scoring on AirBnB: perfectly situated, spacious, beautifully designed, a totally laid back and accommodating host. I honestly can't imagine a more ideal spot to spend a week in New Orleans.

If you want to get out of the hot mess of the Quarter and be somewhere where neighbours will say hey, where there is live music in every direction (Vaughn's and Bacchanal are right around the corner and Frenchman's a 15 min walk), and where you're so close to the river you can hear the boats chugging by then this place is perfection. Add to that it's an uber charming classic shotgun with 10 ft ceilings, hardwood floors, and a garden adjacent stoop that says "sit on me and drink cold beer please" and really, what else could you want?

We really appreciated the ease and convenience of a lockbox system which saved us stressing about arrival times but had the good fortune to be staying here with Bobby next door in the adjacent suite. A super lovely human being, he offered food and music reco's and helpfully accommodated our late departure time.

So long as it's available, we'll be booking this place for all our future New Orleans trips.

  • The pictures of Robert's house do not do it justice! The ceilings are so high and the antiques are gorgeous. The house is spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is fantastic as well. We stayed for a week with our 2 and 8 year old girls and they had a ball. They slept on the pull out couch and were very comfy. Lots of great places to eat in walking distance. Satsuma, Elizabeths, the Joint! Cool park across the street, playgrounds and a great tree with swings all close by. Would highly recommend Robert and will definitely be back!

  • An excellent stay - the house is huge and oozes character. There are some great restaurants in the Bywater and it's an easy enough walk to the Marigny and the French Quarter.

Robert was very helpful and quick to respond when we had questions.

    Definitely recommend!

  • Robert's house in the Bywater is spacious, comfortable, wonderfully located and beautifully furnished. It looks very small (and cute) from the front but keeps on going back and back! Our stay was stress free, with easy check in and out, and no disturbances at all. The neighborhood is gorgeous and peaceful with some great bars and resturants nearby. Having the bikes was fantastic - the best way to explore New Orleans.
    Greatly recommended!

  • We've used airbnb numerous times, but this place was something else entirely. Perfect location, spotlessly clean, large gorgeous rooms, great amenities ... like the best airbnbs, it's a place you will feel at home and will regret having to leave. Robert was extremely accommodating to our schedule and made our time in New Orleans easy and rich. The area has several bars and restaurants worth visiting, and is a short walk or bike to Marigny and the French Quarter. Overall, could not have been better.
