The 'Cozy Oaks' is a 390 sqft guest house, sharing a small portion of one wall with the main house. Your two night (or more) stay comes with 2 (two) unlimited member-access passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium (2 AQ).
We put a lot of love into our vacation suite. Treating it as if we would want to stay there, we installed low chemical wool carpet with jute backing, used zero VOC paints for the walls and stained the concrete instead of installing stinky vinyl. Thank you, locally owned Eco-Carmel, for the help!
The Cozy Oaks is cozy for humans. Pets are not allowed.
Sadly, NOTE: due to water shortages, we ask that you do not use the jetted tub feature.
Dining/Work Area: A small fridge with separate freezer compartment, microwave and coffee pot with hot water dispenser is provided. Locally roasted coffee, hot cocoa, teas, sugars and chilled 1/2 & 1/2 accompany certified compostable hot cups and lids, complete with plates, cutlery and napkins that round out the dining area. There is a supply of paper towels and eco-friendly spray to clean your windshield or mop up spills. A four-seat table is ready for your laptop workspace or for a meal. Free, secure and strong WiFi is throughout.
Bedroom: The Cozy Oaks is a studio so the space is all one big room. There is a queen sized bed and a twin sized couch, that turns in a pull-out bed. It's comfy - really! The bedroom is carpeted and has a flatscreen tv with cable, alarm clock, iron and ironing board, gas fireplace with quiet blower, sitting chair and lamps and full-length mirrored closet doors adorn the closet stocked with extra linens and pillows. If traveling with a small child, we can add a Pack n Play.
Bathroom: This bathroom is two seperated rooms, one with sink and shower/tub, one with the potty for privacy. The bathroom is stocked with Turkish cotton towels and bath mats, a jetted tub (NOTE: due to water shortages, we ask that you do not use the jetted tub feature), hand-held shower wand, hairdryer and other travel amenities such as shampoo and conditioner, a small first-aid kit and q-tips.
The best part of our neighborhood is the location. We live in a very walkable place. If you are here for an event hosted by Pebble Beach Resorts, you can actually walk to the Pacific Grove gate (closest to Spanish Bay). They have shuttles, etc for events. You can also walk to Spanish Bay Resort - they have a bagpiper every day at sunset and firepits that overlook the horizon.
You can also walk to Asilomar (ah sill ah mahr)
Beach - voted best surf spot for the 2013 Monterey County Weekly's Best Of issue. It has bright white, soft sand and deep blue to turquoise water, depending on the weather. Across the street from the beach is the Asilomar Conference Center, a California State Park. There is a historic social hall with cafe and on tap beer, local wines. They have a fireplace that is larger than our car there!
Guests have access to free parking out front of our home on the public street. We live on a flat, wide street, with super easy, spacious parking.
There is a private gate that leads down a paver-stoned pathway to your private yard.
The vacation suite shares a wall with the main house, but we have soundproofing in place and haven't had any issues with noise (from either side)!
Since everyone has their own comfort level with guest/host interaction, we let you set the stage. While we don't plan on having dinner with you at our dining table in the main house, we are happy to answer questions you have about the area. We are here to make your stay fun, safe and comfortable. We love meeting new people and are honored to be your hosts!

We cannot wait to return. The space is very well planned out and extremely comfortable. The hosts are ideal. They are responsive to our needs but totally unobtrusive. The location is great and you can walk many places and not use your car which is something we appreciate. Thanks Carolyn, Brandon and Dorothy.
She thought of everything! Nice amenities, well stocked essentials, clean, bright, and SNACKS! I was amazed!
Brandon, Carolyn and Dorothy were fabulous hosts. I will highly recommend their Cozy Inn to all my friends. The accommodations were wonderful. The location was perfect to see Monterey and Carmel.
We really enjoyed our weekend at the The Cozy Oaks! Carolyn was there to greet us with yummy pastries when we arrived and her kindness and graciousness were very apparent throughout our stay.
The unit itself is even cozier and more inviting than the photos would suggest, with very comfortable and attractive furnishings.
Carolyn has thought of everything in the way she has stocked and organized the apartment. The neighborhood is very quiet and close to the heart of Pacific Grove. We would love to come back someday and wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Cozy Oaks to our friends!
Cozy Oaks is truly home away from home. Carolyn made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable, from a veritable assortment of eco-toiletries to pastries from the best bakery in Pacific Grove! The space is exactly as described in the profile and shown in the photos. The bed is incredibly comfy, and everything is immaculate. You won't find a better located situation, especially if you are interested in exploring PG and its environs. Most of all, Carolyn is a consummate hostess who makes you feel welcome from the moment you are in contact with her. I would highly recommend staying at Cozy Oaks. You will not be disappointed!
I didn't meet Brandon or Dorothy, but Carolyn is the best host I've ever had. She was very friendly and was willing to go above and beyond to make sure that me and my friend had everything we needed for our stay, even when she had to go out of town with very little notice for a family emergency.
The apartment itself is great - very spacious for 2-3 people, nice furniture (including a nice table for eating/working at and an empty wardrobe for clothes), and a very functional kitchenette (microwave, mini-fridge, nice coffee-maker).
My friend and I were attending a conference at Asilomar, and the walk was short enough to be reasonable (~15-20 minutes, and slightly hilly), though long enough that I didn't come and go frequently during the middle of the day.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Cozy Oaks!
beautiful clean space, loved the jetted tub, cozy bed, good location
Perfect! This property was beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, and our hosts were absolutely wonderful. This feels more like a studio apartment than a hotel suite. The bed was perfect, and the fireplace & jacuzzi tub were treats. It's quite private with a gated walkway, and a separate courtyard entrance. Also, the location was ideal for getting anywhere in Monterey, Pacific Grove, and Carmel!
Carolyn, Brandon, and Dorothy were absolutely lovely hosts -- quick with a smile, and any assistance you could possibly need. They offered us a bunch of excellent food recommendations, extra coffee, and many other amenities stocked in the room. We've rarely met such friendly responsive hosts in all our travels. When we return to Monterey Bay, we wouldn't stay anywhere else!
The Swanson were incredible hosts. Very good communicators and thoughtful beyond measure. So much so, my Aunt didn't want to leave Pacific Grove! They have a gorgeous set up, better than a hotel. They thought of everything. My Mum, Aunt and I were very comfortable and warm. An easy jog away from beautiful beach. If we are ever in the region, we would definately stay here again.
Carolyn was an absolute delight to communicate with. She went above and beyond in every way, including recommendations for local eats as well as making sure we felt comfortable with our first Airbnb experience. The Cozy Oaks was absolutely perfect. We felt comfortable and loved the location, as it was close to so many great sights, including the beautiful beach and cute downtown of Pacific Grove. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would stay here again in a heartbeat!
