Share the bath with the owner/me.
The other bedroom, also listed:
has a private bath.
Location is excellent, near the trendy Valencia Street corridor, with great transit to all that San Francisco offers. Dolores Park is two blocks away, Mission Dolores is a three block walk and the Castro is eight blocks.
Many options for good food and drink within the block. Valencia Street corridor is only two blocks away!
Now have menus from most of the restaurants on Valencia between 16th and 18th for you to preview.
Will add to the book as you suggest what you'd like to see and would find helpful!
SF water is EXcellent...no need to buy bottles. Our HetchHetchy/Yosemite water tests better than most paid-for-by-the-bottle water. I never use a filter and always drink from the faucet.
SF weather is variable. By which I mean it changes from minute to minute, street to street. FAR TOO MANY visitors have to buy extra layers here to be comfortable (yes, even in summer - in fact, especially in summer when the fog rolls in - it's why Mark Twain is quoted as having said "the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco!)
You have access to the living room, dining area and kitchen plus, of course, the shared bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
Enjoy chatting w guests and happily leave you alone or send you on your way to 'play tourist' in my favorite city!
Just read a couple of reviews...they say it all! GReat neighborhood, very much What'sHappeningNow in SF
Lovely area suggestions:
Excellent public transit - 1.4 blocks to the J-Church streetcar, BART is 6+ blocks away and there are many busses, including (website hidden) bus, within the block.
Other Things to Note
Please do bring at least a windbreaker.
SF is windy and chilly, at least some of the time. I carry/wear my light-weight down parka most of the time - honestly.
-Quiet time is 11-7
-Guests/friends only w prior permission
-Quiet on the stairs and in your room..young one is sleeping in the lower unit/condo below you
- WiFi = MyBnb Password = fabulous
-Lock your door from the inside only
-Clean up after yourself in the kitchen

Parking IS a challenge. Tickets cost $60+ and towing $500+. If at all possible, do without a car here in SF.
We had a great time at Jan's place. She was very accommodating so my visiting my sons was a success. We were able to hang out in her living room and enjoy ourselves. Jan's place is very well located close to the Bart entrance and many restaurants. The room is very comfortable. The condo is very beautiful, full of art all over
Jan also offered full use of her refrigerator so we could have breakfast, something I found not every one offered.
Perfect room and location for a weekend getaway. Jan was a lovely host, very warm and welcoming and quick to offer any guidance regarding the city and neighborhood.
The location is a very safe and convenient spot, walking distance from cafes, restaurants, and shops all in the hip Mission district. This location cannot be beat!
I had such a lovely stay at Jan's that I felt it was too early to leave, so clearly I'll go back when I have a chance!
Jan kept in touch before my arrival, even thoughtfully advising me on the weather. The room was exactly as advertised with a super comfy bed and the apartment was bright and clean. I loved the local area with great cafes, restaurants and even hikes - Jan recommended Corona Heights Park, which was simply stunning. Jan was great to talk to, but also respectful of my privacy.
Thank you so much again for everything, Jan! I felt right at home.
Jan is a very easy-going and well prepared host. The communication was great. Jan messaged me immediately after I booked the room and reminded me about the details before my trip and available throughout my entire trip! She is very clear about the direction, what to expect and what is not expected.
The room was readily available upon our arrival. We got to share the bathroom with Jan which is not a problem at all. Jan answered all our questions about our trip and leave plenty private time to us. She shows great respect and her home is lovely and clean!
Just a side note, the location is great. It locates in the mission district. Surrounded by great bakeries (in fact the best bakery in SF), ice cream shop, bars, and restaurants. It is said that locals all live in the mission district! I would recommend anyone looking for a trip to SF to lodge at Jan's place!

About the Host, Jan
Welcome to my home! I’ve lived here in my condo on Oakwood St. for over ten years. Fell in love with San Francisco when I was here in college at SF State and have been 'at home' here since.
Since landing in SF I’ve traveled regularly, from Germany to Russia, from Vietnam to China. I love to hike, and belong to the Bay Area Ridge Trail. I'd be happy to recommend local hikes, both long and short! Among the things I enjoy are movies, reading, ballet, progressive thought, and conversation - especially over good food and wine, both out and at my table.
You'll be comfortable in my home if you're like previous guests and quite happy with the area you've chosen. My neighborhood is lively, centrally located, and provides plenty to do—if you want, I can recommend restaurants, cafes, theatres, shops and more. We'll enjoy chatting if you wish, I'll leave you alone if you want privacy.
