The Space

We have 2 en suite guest rooms each with a king sized and a twin bed plus an extra mattress/cot for a child. These are spectacularly large rooms with original features preserved, beautifully decorated and superb views to the Canal du Midi, the vineyards of the Corbières & towards the Pyrenees.
Each room can sleep a couple or two friends and up to two children.
Enjoy the Chateau experience at a fraction of the cost many places will charge.

Guest Access

Our Airbnb guests will have access to our Drawing Room - with a fire for chilly days. When fine you can use all of the gardens including the terrace and the private swimming pool.

Interaction with Guests

We enjoy having guests to stay and often share a bottle of wine with them on the terrace after a busy day's work. Chateau Ventenac is our home for much of the year and we are always at home when we accept Airbnb guests so will be able to help with advice about places to visit or local restaurants to try out. We can also arrange bike hire for exploring the Canal du Midi and the fabulous Languedoc countryside.

The Neighborhood

Ventenac-en-Minervois is a delightful, peaceful and friendly village with just over 500 inhabitants. Surrounded by vineyards and situated on a low ridge beside the Canal du Midi, there are wonderful views in all directions from around the outskirts of the village.

A doorway in Château Ventenac’s dining hall opens out next to the 13th century church and the village square is within a minute’s walk. The Canal du Midi is a few paces from the garden gate, whilst the wine Cave, the village’s two restaurants and boulangerie are all within 100 metres.
The village offers a choice of two fine restaurants with a wide menu selection and informal dining

Open every day our little village boulangerie is a thriving business and a place where the locals often gather for a chat, to buy the local papers, have coffee and a croissant. The bread is good and the pastries delicious!! Maria also sells a variety of basic food items if you don’t have time to get to the supermarket e.g. butter, juice, long life milk, eggs, ham etc. She even does ready meals too!

The lower gateway from the Château grounds gives access onto the Canal du Midi. We keep this gate locked with a padlock and the code is kept in the kitchen. From here you can walk or cycle for miles along the glorious tree-lined Canal.

Getting around

Getting to Château Ventenac is easy, with a choice of airports offering budget flights and long-haul destinations, as well as high-speed TGV trains to Narbonne. We’re also well served by autoroutes.

  • Our stay at Julia's B&B was first class, and we really lucked out with such a great find on AirBnB! From the minute we walked into the Chateau, we were greeted with warm smiles from our host, Julia and her partner Phillip. They made us feel very welcome, and answered any questions we had helpfully and thoroughly. They made sure we felt right at home!

The room pictured with the blue accents (Atlantique Suite) is the room we stayed in, and it was immaculate and very beautifully decorated. I felt like a princess sleeping in the bed with the canopy hanging overhead! The ensuite bathroom was spacious and modern, with a fantastic shower with good water pressure.

During our short stay, we had great weather which allowed us to make use of the Chateau's outdoor pool. In the morning, we were provided with a fantastic breakfast including pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, bread, yogurt, juice, and coffee.

Everything from the accommodations to the scenic landscape made our stay at Julia's Chateau an experience we will fondly remember!

  • We have returned home after a fantastic few nights in Chateau Ventenac. Our hosts, Philip and Julia could not do enough to make our stay an enjoyable one.
The Chateau is splendid, the rooms spacious, clean and beautifully decorated, it felt more like a 5 star hotel than a B&B.
Our bed was comfortable, our bathroom modern, and the breakfast was superb.
The Chateau is situated beside the Canal du Midi, which is an interesting place to walk, or sit and watch the boats go by. There are a few small restaurants in the village and a Cave - so (email hidden) to visit.
I would recommend this B&B to anyone, great value, welcoming hosts (email hidden)!

About
My family and I bought Château Ventenac in 2004 as a holiday home. We came across it quite by chance and immediately fell in love – ‘un coup de foudre‘ as the French say! The house has now been transformed from a neglected wreck into a beautiful and comfortable family home. The building still retains some of the grandeur of its bygone life. Floors of polished oak and original tiles, marble fireplaces and well-proportioned, lofty rooms all make it feel like a Château. Yet we have a really well-equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, and up-to-date satellite TV and wireless broadband internet. I love travelling and my partner, Philip and I are always planning our next trip. Last year we went to Australia which we both loved. Next year we hope to go to the Caribbean, to the little island of St Kitts where I lived as a child. I also love being a host and welcoming visitors. Our home in Ventenac feels at it's best when we are sharing it with guests - it becomes a happy house when lots of people are enjoying it. It may be part of a Chateau but it is also very much a "home". We look forward to welcoming you.
