A truly unique place in a truly extraordinary location. This 1300SF converted storefront has great historic charm & character, high ceilings, and an open plan with abundant daylight. Enjoy one of St. Louis' best neighborhoods from the heart of it!
This HUGE 1300 s.f. space is a converted storefront (used to be the neighborhood grocer long before my time). Super open floor plan w/ 11' high historic tin ceilings. Comfy pillow-top queen mattress in bedroom (additional AeroBed can be provided if accommodating 3+). 1 bath w/ shower, linens provided. Ample street parking. Good sized urban patio in back w/ BBQ and table/chairs. Full kitchen in front room with all the appliances and cookware you'd ever need. This place gets loads of light from the all-window front wall, while custom honeycomb shades maintain your full privacy from passers by. Smoking outside only please.
Located in the Shaw Neighborhood (North of Tower Grove Park), this place is near everything (including public transportation, and awesome locally owned bakeries and restaurants). Walk to the Botanical Garden, bike to Grand South Grand Entertainment district. 5 minutes to downtown, 5 minutes to the Central West End.
Booking: I will make every effort to accommodate on short notice, however booking at least a week in advance (or more) is ideal and will increase the likelihood of availability. Please also complete your profile in good detail prior to making a reservation request... I like to get a sense of who I'm welcoming into my home.
Staying: Pets not permitted. Please smoke outside only. Please be respectful (of the neighbors, and of my space). Please be tidy (I don't charge cleaning fees, and with the help of tidy guests I hope not to in the future). And finally, please plan to enjoy your stay!
Great location and even better apartment. Very flexible, prompt and readily available host. Will definitely go back.
Amanda was easy and prompt in her communications. Her place is well located, close to a quaint bar and in driving distance of Grand Blvd restaurants. Her cute kitch style makes the place warm and cozy. As a repeat AirB&Ber however, we were slightly surprised by the late check in (4pm) and bothered by the hard & bumpy bed & pillows. Also, as the sensitive birds that we seem to be, we were woken by the noise upstairs, since we foolishly did not think of the obvious: storefronts are just not designed/insulated for living. So while we did have a nice stay at Amanda's, the accommodations seemed more in line with that of a clean yet college level experience. In our experience, it did not compare so well to other places in the price range.
I'm glad you enjoyed the neighborhood and felt the place was cozy, Sandra. Thanks for letting me know about the pillows; I can easily provide additional pillows to accommodate softness preferences (if only I had a sleep number bed, I could offer the same fix for the firm mattress!). And, yes, you can occasionally hear sounds from upstairs, especially footfalls. Old building syndrome. Other reviews have mentioned as much making it a fairly transparent expectation to have, but I'm very sorry it was bothersome to you. I am surprised, however, by your comment on "the late check in (4pm)" when, in fact, your arrival was twice delayed (6:30p actual). I thought I was doing my best to be super flexible. Had you communicated in advance that you were looking to arrive earlier I could have easily made arrangements accordingly (I've accommodated check-ins as early as 8am in the past). In any event, I'm glad you still had a nice stay overall. Thanks again for your feedback; it helps me and my future guests alike. Best wishes and thanks for leaving the place so immaculate!
Amanda's place is fantastic, full of character and in a fascinating neighborhood. Walking the surrounding streets, you instantly feel that you're somewhere uniquely St. Louis, and that you're, however briefly, a part of their community. The location was convenient to downtown, which was the site of most of our planned tourist stops, but it also introduced us to a side of the city we might not otherwise have explored in such detail. And how thankful I am for that!
The interior is in great condition, and is decorated in superb taste. Amanda's style is one of a kind. Never again do I expect to stay somewhere that has an indoor swing!
I would love to stay here again, and the friends I was traveling with definitely agree!
Highly recommended! Amanda was very gracious in welcoming us when we arrived. The location is a very quaint neighborhood with great local restaurants and a beautiful park all within walking distance.
We really enjoyed Amanda's apartment! It was very spacious and comfortable, and the Shaw neighborhood is centrally located with lots of beautiful St. Louis architecture. We were able to walk to many places, and there was ample street parking. I actually don't think we ever parked anywhere other than directly in front of the building. Amanda was a great host and very easy to communicate with, both before and during our stay. We would definitely stay here again.
This was our first Airbnb experience, and Amanda made sure everything went smoothly and offered up tons of great suggestions on places to go. Her place is awesome and is located in a great area! Overall we couldn't have asked for a better trip!
I didn't get to meet Amanda in person, but that didn't stop her from being a great and communicative host. Her apartment is gorgeous and unique, with a lovely open layout. It's close to parks and restaurants and nightlife, and only a few minutes from Barnes Hospital. I didn't have any trouble with street parking, and didn't notice any great amount of noise. (There is an upstairs neighbor if you're super sensitive to these things, but they weren't noisy either.) It was a comfortable and easy place to stay, and made my trip so much more pleasant. Thanks, Amanda!
