The University of Arizona is just 15 minutes away with easy access to buses. Around the corner is a delightful WIFI Cafe, a Mexican Bistro, a Polish restaurant, Italian restaurant, American breakfast cafe, Bakery, Pizza parlor, a Tiki Bar, and of course a convenience store. Sabino Canyon is 20 minutes away.
There is an outdoor kitchen as well, complete with a barbeque! Coffee is always available, and the patio is often a place for shared meals.
Please smoke outside if you're a smoker. There are two very friendly indoor cats (Lulu and Lucy).
I'm an artist in my 60's, vegetarian (although you don't need to be), and I've traveled widely myself. I enjoy making my home available for fellow travelers. Tucson is a great place in the winter, and beautiful at any time of the year!
I have a big yard on a quiet street - but, this is central Tucson. There are neighbors dogs, traffic three blocks away on Broadway, etc.
I require at least 2 days lead time in order to accept a reservation.
Interaction with Guests
I greatly enjoy meeting people, and love it when conversations, even dinner parties, happen. However, it's been my experience that guests need privacy, and often have busy schedules, so quiet and privacy are very important in my household.
I love that the neighborhood is very quiet, and yet we are just a block or so away from one of Tucson's major boulevards, offering cafe, restaurants, buses, convenience stores etc. in walking distance.
Buses to downtown are just a block away.
We are quiet, and appreciate guests respecting the need for quiet as well. But we also greatly appreciate friendliness!
My stay at Lauren's was very pleasant. The room was comfortable and clean. The outdoor areas were a great place to relax and talk with friends old and new. Lauren is a gracious and welcoming host, as are her two indoor kitties Lucy and Lulu (one of which will make herself at home in your bed if you let her!). I'd happily stay again. Thanks, Lauren.
My host was VERY welcoming and always helpful in finding my way around - her home & the town and surrounds. She provided places for food storage and cooking. Her home is also near so many different places to eat, hike, shop - anything one would want.
Most important to me, my host helped to create a sense of community that I never expected to experience and that became a very important part of my whole trip. And she also provided a place where one could have privacy. A great combination.
Another aspect, is the beauty of her home - inside (the artwork & way she decorated with colors) and outside (her gardens!).
I also felt that my lifestyle fit well with the "community" and it was great to have met & talked with my host & all the other folks staying there.
It was indeed a lovely room. The listing description was accurate. My host, Lauren, was kind and welcoming. The place was kept very clean. The Wi-Fi sometimes did not work, and sometimes worked. During my stay, there were several other female travellers also staying there, with lively conversation and laughter available to join in, and privacy also respected. Lauren has 2 indoor cats and 2 outdoor cats. Lovely white indoor cat Lucy was especially kind and interactive, and she enhanced my stay very much. This was a wonderful "home away from home" for me. I heartily recommend staying at Lauren's place.
Once again, Lauren was a gracious charming host. Last year, I stayed in her airstream in delightful semi seclusion.
Although I wanted the same situation for this year's gem show, this place had already been rented. I was, however, able to secure a room in her house with its own private entrance. It was a wonderful room with a phenomenal bed. I was gone most of the day, but it was nice to have interaction with other interesting occupants.
Did I mention she has beautiful cats?
I would highly recommend Lauren as a hst
Lauren has crafted what many attempt, but few realize: a true home away from home. She and amazing and interesting women that pass through the door comprise a fascinating and diverse community of people that can make any traveller (long or short term) feel both welcome and safe. My month long stay was not long enough.
Lauren was amazing and hospitable. The room was also ideal and much more than expected for the price. It's a magical place and a magical women who lives there! She is an amazing lady and worth taking a moment to get to know her if you are stopping through Tucson.
I had a great time in the trailer.
It's very cute, cozy and romantic.
I stayed middle of November and I was feeling the cold at night. There is a heater and extra blankets but I maybe I needed two extra blankets, who knows :) I get cold easily so maybe its a personal thing. Going to toilet is lots of fun. there is one in the trailer, it's flashing manually. you won't have access to internet here but if you require the connection you can sit down in the patio to access the house network.
Recommended for those looking for unique experiences. I absolutely loved all the artwork around the house garden and patio. You will be living with a stunning artist!

I'm a professional artist specializing in masks and community arts. I'm 63, love conversation and creativity. I'm a vegetarian, concerned with the environment, and have traveled internationally. I had so many good experiences with B&B's in the British Isles and Europe, where it is very traditional for families to open their homes, that I decided to try it myself. I had the same good experiences when I travelled in Indonesia, and stayed at "home stays".
Because there's a great wifi cafe around the corner, I no longer cook breakfast, but I do enjoy creating a bright, colorful, serene space for the women who come to visit, and am always happy to share what I know about Tucson and the Southwest. I love Arizona, especially its warm, sunny winters.
Renovating the 1962 Airstream trailor in the back yard, and creating a patio for it, has been my latest "art project"..........I love making things old new and inviting.
