Stay in a classic historic building with contemporary comfort. In the heart of Mexico City where the modern coexists with the historic and everyday life offers an incomparable array of possibilities. Only 2 blocks from el Zócalo or Main Plaza and one block from the Supreme Court, the building is located amidst Museums, Galleries, Restaurants and shopping alleys and is only blocks away from the most vibrant and diverse nightlife in Mexico City. Unlike other trendy neighborhoods, it is statistically the safest spot in town.
The room is a very spacious, well lit and comfy space that surrounds an indoor courtyard transformed into a common area (dinning room). There is an extra room with a king size loft bed with a view to an inner "patio". The eclectic architecture unites functionalist with deco style elements and the neighbors provide a feeling of real Mexico, where artists, bureaucrats, middle class and low income families peacefully cohabit. The entire downtown area is a bike friendly neighborhood connected through bike lanes with other trendy neighborhoods such as the Condesa, Roma, Juárez and Polanco.
There is a flat TV screen (only local TV) that can be placed in your room, the space is also equipped with a projector for film screenings and good audio. Fast wifi, (website hidden) is welcomed, we have a vintage kitchen with tons of cooking utensils. On top of it we are located between the two most important markets that supply first rate restaurants across the city: the historic Merced market and the gourmet market of San Juan.
Accessibility: 2 blocks from metro stop Zocalo, 4 from Pino Suárez, 1 block from metrobus stop (line 4 that takes you in 30 min to the airport), here you can also get green cabs and of course we are surrounded by bicycle stations.
This was sadly my worst experience on Airbnb. Yolanda talked me into not canceling my reservation and instead taking a different "improved" place. There were lots of issues from the beginning in communication and then the house. I tried to stay positive throughout my experience as I've never had a bad experience w Airbnb but she really screwed me on my last day in Mexico. The apt was dirty when I first arrived. The apt was OK as she was able to get at least a bed into the bedroom before I was to stay there. The toilets acted up the whole time I was there. Her cat was a super aggressive terror that would follow me everywhere, dry hump my leg, and when it was being pet, he would bite and claw and then meow throughout the night when we wouldn't allow it to be in the bedroom while we slept. The door handle was broken in the back so the apt was never 100% secure. The hot water handle broke because it's an old house and she tried to make us pay for it. I have everything in writing when she stated my guests could stay with me and we could stay our last night in DF and "you would not have to pay more than you already did". When we arrived in the evening, we came back to NEW guests in the house and discovered that all of our things had been moved to the back house and our guests could not stay there so we all had to leave and rent a new hotel room for our last night in Mexico. Upon grabbing our things, I realized that my Macbook charger was completely missing and I had to buy a new one. Yolanda has selective communication so does not address issues but quick to address anything that is in her interest. She also stated that the apt would give me more "privacy" and she tried to rent out the other room while I was there. All in all, this was terrible.
The host canceled this reservation 42 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This is a wonderful place in a magical neighborhood.
I just love Centro, as there are so many centuries piled on top of one another, all in one place. And I've been to Mexico City 4 times now...and this has been my best stay.
Meanwhile, my stay with Yolanda and Janik (her son) was really enjoyable, and we all got along great.
I highly recommend this location, this apartment, and these fine folks to stay with when you come to Mexico City.
Pleasant experience. The host is very nice and provided us with all the information we need. Very good location, close to museo de nacional though it was a little bit hard to find for the first time.
We had a wonderful time at Yolanda's apartment! She was so welcoming and very knowledgeable about the history of Mexico City -- she spent time chatting with us and giving us suggestions about what to do. And it's really a beautiful apartment, artsy and full of light. The location is perfect for exploring the historic city center.
Thanks very much!

About the Host, Yolanda
Mexico is not a very safe country, once we establish communication via email I will let you know all about myself. So far, I am a curious person that believes in integrating life style, values and profession. That includes constantly generating new projects to expand my worldview.
