Stay in a classic historic building with contemporary comfort. In the heart of Mexico City where the modern coexists with the historic and everyday life offers an incomparable array of possibilities. Only 2 blocks from el Zócalo or Main Plaza and one block from the Supreme Court, the building is located amidst Museums, Galleries, Restaurants and shopping alleys and is only blocks away from the most vibrant and diverse nightlife in Mexico City. Unlike other trendy neighborhoods, it is statistically the safest spot in town.
The room is a very spacious, well lit and comfy space that surrounds an indoor courtyard transformed into a common area (dinning room). There is an extra room with a king size loft bed with a view to an inner "patio". The eclectic architecture unites functionalist with deco style elements and the neighbors provide a feeling of real Mexico, where artists, bureaucrats, middle class and low income families peacefully cohabit. The entire downtown area is a bike friendly neighborhood connected through bike lanes with other trendy neighborhoods such as the Condesa, Roma, Juárez and Polanco.
There is a flat TV screen (only local TV) that can be placed in your room, the space is also equipped with a projector for film screenings and good audio. Fast wifi, etc.
Cooking is welcomed, we have a vintage kitchen with tons of cooking utensils. On top of it we are located between the two most important markets that supply first rate restaurants across the city: the historic Merced market and the gourmet market of San Juan.
Accessibility: 2 blocks from metro stop Zocalo, 4 from Pino Suárez, 1 block from metrobus stop (line 4 that takes you in 30 min to the airport), here you can also get green cabs and of course we are surrounded by bicycle stations.

It was a cool location. Very close to all the action in downtown Mexico City.
It came as advertised with a cat named Boxy (I think)...
First time using airbnb and I would recommend renting Yolanda´s apartment if you don´t mind sharing it with her. She minded her own business so everything is private and she was also willing to chat it up if you are about life.
Yolanda is a thoughtful, kind person and a generous, easygoing host. I really like what she has done with the place. It is a contemporary fix-up a very beautiful, old apartment. If you enjoy an apartment with character in a good location, this is the spot for you.
On my first night there, Yolanda let me know she was leaving for a couple days. It was totally fine. I really valued her trust in me.
I only met Yolanda's son Jannick a couple times, but he seemed exceptionally bright and cute.
The one thing I will never forget is how Yolanda came through for my friend and I when we needed her. My friend Rory got violently ill with seafood poisoning on our last night there. Yolanda gave him tea at 4 in the morning when she heard he was awake. When it became clear we needed to take him to the emergency room, she volunteered directions and then spoke in Spanish to the attendant doctor to make sure we got the care we needed. She is really a great, caring person.
Yolanda seemed to be a nice person. Yet, me and my boyfriend got locked out the very first night because she left the wrong keys. That set up a bad beginning. The apartment is not quiet and it is hard to rest specially early morning. I feel that we made the wrong choice.
Yolanda is really a friendly and helpful host. Very warm welcome and offering space and rest in her house. good possibilities to cook and to make and eat breakfast. And ofcourse the house is situated downtown, near to subway and lots of nice attractions. Only disadvantage is the missing of a window in our own room. But the open and light roof in the living room is nice.
Yolanda's apartment is in a great location. It's right by the metro, but I only had to take that a few times, because so many attractions are within walking distance. I also found the area to be friendly, bustling and safe. The apartment was clean, spacious and sunny, but I spent most of my time out and about. Oh, and getting to and from the airport is easy and inexpensive if you take the metrobus. Thank you, Yolanda, for being a gracious host.
Amazing host, fantastic location, gorgeous space!!
I absolutely loved my visit to Mexico City and a big part of that had to do with Yolanda and her amazing apartment. First, the location is totally ideal. I felt very safe in the neighborhood and the apartment is right in the Historic District, which means that it's steps away from the Zocalo, Templo Mayor, the tour bus to Taxco, the Metro, the airport, the bus to the Pyramids, etc. It's the ideal place to start your day of sightseeing. I personally loved just wandering around the neighborhood and its various shops and streets.
But on top of that, Yolanda is a gracious, smart and funny host. (Mexico City can be overwhelming but somehow, she makes you feel that it's easy, navigable - and that ends up being true!)
The apartment is wonderful. (I was very inspired by it.) Beautiful furnishings, a great shower, an amazing atrium-like living room. The space that you have to yourself is beautiful and restful - a real respite after a long day of sightseeing.
I cannot give both Yolanda and her amazing apartment a higher recommendation! GRACIAS!!!!
Lovely home: bright and modern. The host was very respectful of privacy and personal space. The apartment is located in a great location, right in the heart of the city. The metro is very close: a lifeline to the rest of the city!

The apartment was very nice, and although we did not meet Yolanda, we were lucky enough to have met Paul, who was an extremely personable, and knowledgeable host. As stated in a previous comment, the room we were in was not the same as is depicted in the photos. The room we were in had an elevated bed that may be a problem for someone with mobility issues, and it felt like a storage area, rather than the bright and airy room in the photos. We did not mention it, and the room was more than sufficient for us, but it should be mentioned for others, it is just something that needs to be adjusted in the listing. The apartment is right next to the Zocalo, and near a lot of great street food, transit options, an outdoor market, and an amazing candy store. It is also easy to get here from the airport via the South Route bus line. Thanks for everything Paul!
