Have a wonderful time
This place was great. Very spacious with a huge backyard and fully stocked kitchen. Not too far from highway and close to napa and sonoma. Would definitely stay here again!
Although we did not have personal contact, Varick was available by phone with any questions we had. He was prompt in his response and directions were easy to follow for the house. Everything was as described with easy access to grocery shopping, our destination run and tours. The house was spacious with lots of areas to relax, watch the world series, cook and eat. The large back yard with a horseshoe pit was a lot of fun too. The property is large with beautiful growing fruit trees and landscaping plus there is a lot of room to park inside the gated property. We enjoyed the enclosed porch when it rained. The house was clean and comfortable, the guest room newly furnished. The living room is like traveling to the 60's, well preserved and comfortable.
What a wonderful experience! Everything in the listing was accurate and better than expected. The house was more than large enough for my family of 4. The lovely garden out back contains fruit trees, a covered BBQ area and a solarium. The decor and furniture are dated but nice. The home is fully stocked with everything a family would need and more. It felt like home!
Owners were very friendly and made check in a breeze. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants easy access to Sonoma vineyards and the Santa Rosa are. Definitely an affordable AirBnB gem!
Loved the area and the neighborhood. Wonderful house. I was a little nervous after seeing the pictures online b/c it looked very dated but it was super clean and absolutely darling. What a wonderful layout also. Lots of room. Fantastic backyard and sun room. I would definitely come back again. LOVED exploring all the fruit trees in the backyard. Had a fantastic time! Thanks for sharing your grandmother's home!
We had a great time staying at Casa Monte Verde for 5 nights in late Sept ('14). Varick and Pattie sent all the information we needed and we had absolutely no problem finding the place (it was a bit under a 2 hour drive north from SFO). When we first arrived we affectionately dubbed the house "Grandma's House". We were amazed at the size of the house and the property (1+ acre). The fruit trees were full with apples, limes, oranges, some olive trees, and even a persimmon tree. Everything was beautiful and green and we ate breakfast outside every morning with a beautiful view of the mountains behind us.
In terms of location, we found it VERY convenient to get anywhere we needed to go. We were about 12 (curvy) miles south of Calistoga making it easy to get to the Napa valley wineries. We were also about the same distance south of Healdsburg and all the valleys and wineries up there. One day of our trip we spent about 50 minutes and drove over to Bodega Bay to see the ocean and that couldn't have been an easier drive. Every morning we walked or ran the local neighborhood which was very quaint and safe. A few blocks up from the house is a Safeway supermarket, a UPS store (which ships wine), and it's a very short drive to a Walgreens. We quickly found that we were only a minute or two from anything and everything we would need.
As our stay progressed we quickly realized we aren't as young as we used to be and our daily trips to wineries and local attractions usually ended early with us retiring back to the house to relax and enjoy a slow evening watching TV (or even playing horseshoes out back). The whole place was stocked with everything we needed and more and we ate many dinners there.
The day we left we got to visit with one of the owners and got a full history of the property, the family, and the house (and even a quick look at the '59 Cadillac in the garage). This made the stay even more enjoyable and he was extremely welcoming.
Bottom line, we can't wait to go back and this will be the first place we check into to stay. Both couples on our trip are even talking about bringing our kids next time.
We had a great stay here with 4 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of indoor space for naps, eating and lounging around. The yards are incredible! We especially enjoyed the fig trees and their delicious bounty. Bedrooms and bathrooms were comfortable. The kitchen had what we needed for basic meal preparation. The rental was just as described.
We had a wonderful time in Santa Rosa at Varick and Pattie's home! It was very clean and comfortable, and had plenty of space for three families to spread out.
