In addition to downtown Cville, the immediate 3 block area has Bodos, Sticks Kabobs, IY Foods, Shenandoah Joe's, McGrady's Pub, Breadworks, Mona Lisa Pasta, Ace barbeque, and several new restaurants under construction, all within 5 minutes walk. The neighborhood feels safe , and Rose Hill is a wide, well lit, well traveled area. Many retired people in the area.

Other Things to Note
We are new to renting this house, but rent out office space and a rental house, so are used to being responsive to needs. There are two sofas in the living room and ample floor space if you need to fit someone else in, same rate, also same rate at all times.
Only one, but important! Please park in front of our house, or to the right of the telephone pole as you face the house, not in front of neighbors to the left.
Scott made us feel very welcome and gave us a great tour of their well-thought out home. They have done a lot of work to make it a great residence. We were provided a choice of a bottle of wine (so hospitable!) on top of having the freedom to use items in the fridge and pantry. The coffee for the french press was delicious! The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable - very nice for 2 couples (even though we had the whole place to ourselves!)
Our only small concern was the direct neighbors, however we were not bothered by anyone and since we drove or took cabs to the Corner or downtown, ran into no issues. It was a very pleasant stay!
As a note on the neighbors, since the neighbor tothe left runs the (website hidden) Renal Unit, I assume you mean the building to the right, across the paved alley. There is a building with people with long-term disabilities ( wheelchairs etc) , four apartments. Yesterday one had gotten treats for our dogs from the bank, the day before one had told me that someone ( a friend who had permission) had come by and gotten scaffolding from the back yard. They keep an eye on things when I am away. I exchanged Christmas presents with all of them, they are my friends. Hope this makes you feel more comfortable, and let me know if there is ever an actual problem.
Scott was an amazing host and the house was very comfortable for our party of 4. The location is within easy walking distance of The Corner, downtown mall and, most importantly, Ace Biscuit & BBQ. Scott hooked us up with snacks, fresh fruit, coffee, wine and a wealth of Charlottesville information. If Scott checks you in be sure to ask for the full tour. He put an incredible amount of time and effort into all the small details that make this house a welcoming home.
My friends and I came to Charlottesville to run the 10 miler this past weekend. We went to grad school at UVA, so we of course had a list of favorite places we had to visit as well. This house was a perfect location as we could walk to the Downtown Mall, Bodo's, and Shenandoah Joe's, and it was easy driving distance to everywhere else. The house is beautiful, just like the pictures, and was very comfortable for the four of us (two couples). We did not get to meet Scott, but he was always accommodating and responded quickly to any of my questions via text. I come to Charlottesville fairly often and would definitely stay here again.
The trip was fantastic. Even with inclement weather the host was very helpful and easy to contact. This listing is legit, close to downtown pedestrian mall and uva in a friendly neighborhood.
House is beautiful, love the kitchen.
Our entire party left Charlottesville very content!
Scott made us feel at home right away with snacks from the bakery down the street, a French press and coffee, a bottle of wine, and extra essentials for our stay.
He and his wife were also extremely helpful and welcoming by offering us flexibility in arrival & departure.
We hope to be their guests again soon when returning to Charlottesville!
We had a wonderful stay at Scott's beautiful home in Charlottesville for a long weekend. You can tell that a lot of love went into rehabbing this home. The artsy details throughout left us inspired to be creative in our own home.
Scott was a wonderful host and the house has all the amenities one would want - we really felt like we were at home away from home. If we are ever back in Cville I wouldn't think twice about booking this house again.
About the Host, Scott
We are a nurse, and psychologist in Charlottesville. We own several types of rental properties, so are used to meeting the needs of guests. Having lived here since 1974, I can probably provide (or research) questions about the area. Our current listing is a 1900s house that we extensively renovated, doing all the work ourselves over the last 4 years ( and yes we are still happily married). Cleaning up now for guests on a Friday seems like a picnic compared to pulling off old plaster walls!
