Close to everything, the Preston area is almost like a small village, and the downtown is only 15 minute walk. I walk to work at the (website hidden) medical center, door to desk in 17minutes. In addition to downtown Cville, the immediate 3 block area has Bodos, Sticks Kabobs, IY Foods, Shenandoah Joe's, McGrady's Pub, Breadworks, Mona Lisa Pasta, Ace barbeque, and several new restaurants under construction, all within 5 minutes walk. The neighborhood feels safe , and Rose Hill is a wide, well lit, well traveled area. Many retired people in the area.
On the city bus line. Walk downtown mall.
Other Things to Note
We are new to renting this house, but rent out office space and a rental house, so are used to being responsive to needs. There are two sofas in the living room and ample floor space if you need to fit someone else in, same rate, also same rate at all times.
Only one, but important! Please park in front of our house, or to the right of the telephone pole as you face the house, not in front of neighbors to the left.
This was my first time booking an Airbnb and I based my choice not only on the house but on the great feedback there was on Scott and let me tell you this was a GREAT choice!! We had such a great weekend at Scott's house! The house is absolutely gorgeous and so well done. We definitely took advantage of the hot tub while we were there! Scott greeted us when we arrived, showed us around the house and offered some suggestions of great restaurants in the area. We really enjoyed Ace Biscuits for breakfast as well as Marie Bette! Both in walking distance to the house!! The house is also super close to the downtown mall which made eating out there so easy! We can't wait to plan another trip back to Scott's place. Hopefully in the fall when the leaves are all changing.
One of the best Airbnb's that we have stayed in. The house was in a great location, well-maintained, and Scott and his wife made us feel so welcomed in every way! You can tell that a lot of hard work and love went into this home.
If you are looking for an excellent Airbnb in Charlottesville, close to UVA and the downtown mall. This is the place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay in Scott's beautiful, cozy home. Perfect location for walking both to downtown and the Corner, and with ample amenities to allow us to cook and home to keep the trip on a budget. Scott was an ideal host... Easily accessible and helpful during our stay. We hope to be back.
Scott notified me the morning of that he won't be in town, but gave us great instructions on how to access and enjoy his property. He made his house very welcoming with fully stocked pantry, fridge, and bottles of wine ready for his guest. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Another great trip to Scott's house in Charlottesville! We had a great second stay in this awesome house. Scott really goes the extra mile! Can't wait to stay here again.
Scott made us feel very welcome and gave us a great tour of their well-thought out home. They have done a lot of work to make it a great residence. We were provided a choice of a bottle of wine (so hospitable!) on top of having the freedom to use items in the fridge and pantry. The coffee for the french press was delicious! The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable - very nice for 2 couples (even though we had the whole place to ourselves!)
Our only small concern was the direct neighbors, however we were not bothered by anyone and since we drove or took cabs to the Corner or downtown, ran into no issues. It was a very pleasant stay!
As a note on the neighbors, since the neighbor tothe left runs the (website hidden) Renal Unit, I assume you mean the building to the right, across the paved alley. There is a building with people with long-term disabilities ( wheelchairs etc) , four apartments. Yesterday one had gotten treats for our dogs from the bank, the day before one had told me that someone ( a friend who had permission) had come by and gotten scaffolding from the back yard. They keep an eye on things when I am away. I exchanged Christmas presents with all of them, they are my friends. Hope this makes you feel more comfortable, and let me know if there is ever an actual problem.
About the Host, Scott
We are a nurse, and psychologist in Charlottesville. We own several types of rental properties, so are used to meeting the needs of guests. Having lived here since 1974, I can probably provide (or research) questions about the area. Our current listing is a 1900s house that we extensively renovated, doing all the work ourselves over the last 4 years ( and yes we are still happily married). Cleaning up now for guests on a Friday seems like a picnic compared to pulling off old plaster walls!
