About this listing
This is a large room on the second floor of a 3 story corner row. The location is in a culterally and economically diverse neighborhood. In the winter it is pretty quiet on the block but as it gets warmer the block is more active and noisy. The room has a window unit air conditioner and space heater. The bed is full sized. There is a bathroom steps away. The house is fully wall to wall carpet with a dining room, kitchen, back yard, washer/dryer and central heating. I am close to public transportation, I-95 and the Walt Whitman bridge to South Jersey-Cherry Hill Mall is 20 minutes over the bridge. Local shopping includes Target, Ikea, Marshalls, Walmart, Supermarkets, etc. There is a cat in residence, she keeps a low profile unless she's hungry. My boyfriend stays overnight twice a week. There is free on street parking.

Follow the golden rule, treat my home as you would want me to treat your home.
I stayed in this apartment for a few months while on rotations in center city. I liked that the apartment was located on the corner of the street so it was very private and not too bad with noise. The location was close to where I was working that I could take the bus or walk. The area didn't seem all that safe but I had no issues with my car getting broken into while parked on the street everyday. The price for the room was great and I have already recommended this place to other colleagues who will be rotating at the same site.
I greatly enjoyed my stay with Candace in South Philly.
The room was spacious and well furnished; the restroom (on the same floor) was not officially for my private use, but I was practically the only one to use it.
Also, the Wi-Fi connection was very good. This is something I especially appreciated, as I often work at home, and I experienced very bad connections in the past.
Candace was a very kind and welcoming host. I tried my best to be as discreet as a guest can be, but whenever I needed, she was there.
The house is located in a rather quiet area. Nothing special around; the city center is not very close but at a walking distance (I walked every day for 5 months, also in the winter), and can also be reached easily by local buses (which run approximately every half hour).
I was sad to leave, and had Candace not had someone else coming for my room, I would have definitely stayed longer.
I felt right at home at Candace's house and that meant the world to me. She was perfectly respectful, kind and willing to share her home freely for the whole two months! Every need I had was met by her. I felt the photos showed the home accurately, but could not show the details of that the refrigerator and counter-tops were a bit worn in the kitchen. Candace asked me to be 100% honest in my review and that is the only reason I am even mentioning that, as for me this is not a problem as the layout of the house, the gas stove, the laundry, the hot water in the shower and the excellent shower itself, always working wifi (even in a thunderstorm) all these excellent "bones" of the house more than made up for any minor cosmetic issues. Also, on the positive side, the photos did not show the spaciousness of the home or of my room and the bathroom. I felt I had an oasis in the city. The pricing reflected that this is a stay that is also a part of a real neighborhood. Sometimes the neighbors were loud, but to me that meant I was home as it reminded me of where I grew up, on an army base, where we all shouted from house to house at each other.
Candace is an amazing host, considerate and helpful. She helped me a lot during my first days settling in as i was coming from Egypt. The place is clean, comfortable, quiet. Had a nice big kitchen, washer/dryer, and i even had a table to iron my clothes and an AC in my room. The room is also bigger than the picture and the internet connection is great (i m saying this because i had many problems with slow/inconsistent connections before). The room and the restroom are situated in the 2nd floor so it was like having a private apartment. There is easy access to center city, around 15-20 minutes by bus. I will definitely suggest this place to anyone coming to phili.
Candace was great. She responded quickly, was there when we arrived and made our stay easy. I will say the neighborhood was a little....as a previous reviewer said..."transitional" but we weren't there too much so it was just fine. It's kinda far from CC also but was a quick can ride away. All-in-all, great stay.
Candace was an excellent host. The house and room were very clean. I would recommend staying with her without a doubt.
I stayed a Candice's place for a month, and she's extremely accommodating. The room is nice too, spacious and clean. I will definitely stay there again next time when I stop by Philly.
