This is the true Costa Rica as you are in the countryside where the Costa Rican's live-not in the middle of town. The meaning of "Pura Vida" is embodied in this property and is for you to enjoy to the fullest!

The space

The Villa Hermosa is a private guesthouse located in the countryside of La Fortuna. The main guesthouse consists of one large master suite with a King bed and a Queen bed that sleeps a maximum of 4, a master bath, outdoor living area, dining room, bar, kitchen & BBQ. There is separate room, not connected to the main guesthouse called the Villa Toucan that has a Queen Bed, Double bed & en-suite bathroom. The property is 1 acre and has a private pool, large outdoor patios, hammock house, frog pond, fruit trees, tropical gardens and meandering pathways.

Many birds & other animals call this home so our guests love sitting on the patio watching the birds come to the many feeders or plantains hanging in the trees. This guesthouse is designed for relaxing and having private time with loved ones. Many families enjoy having quality time playing in the pool, playing horseshoes out on the lawn or board games on the dining table. Honeymooners & couples book here for the ultimate private experience and personal service. The caretaker lives on-site so if you need anything she's available but knows how to give you absolute privacy!

Because the guesthouse is located in the countryside, it is recommended that the client have a rental car as shuttles/public transport does not come to this neighborhood. The guesthouse is located about 20 minutes from downtown La Fortuna, 5 minutes to The Springs Resort & Spa and 5 minutes from a small Tico town called Monterrey off highway 4.

I stayed at Villa Hermosa with my family, (Us and our 3 small kids). Wendy was a great host and was waiting for us when we arrived. She gave us great directions for restaurants and activities locally and even helped us navigate to our next location The guest house was clean and inviting and our kids LOVED the pool and walking paths. There is a game area with darts and a pool table which we used in the evenings when it was too dark or rainy for us to be out and about. The kitchen and living area is an open concept which was so nice for relaxing outside after we put the kids to bed, while the room and bathroom was closed and screened in so we could sleep safely away from bugs. It was well stocked with everything we needed to cook and she had coffee and milk for us already stocked. We had so much fun and weren't ready to leave after our 4 days there. We would absolutely stay here again!

This could be by far our best Airbnb experience ever. Wendy has to be the best host we've ever met. Not only did she take amazing care of us, but she also made us feel at home in her property. The villa was equipped with every single ammenity we could want. The bed was incredible and huge which was important for both of us since we're very tall. The shower and bathroom was huge and awesome and the decor was really well thought out. You feel you are outside but inside as well because of the layout but even though it was raining a lot while we were there it didn't bother us in the bit. The garden is gorgeous and we definitely took advantage of the hammocks and the view. I've stayed in la fortuna many times and even though the villa is a bit far from the main road I didn't mind at all since where it is gives you the ultimate privacy. We found food and supermarkets nearby and didn't need to be near la fortuna at all. The springs hotel which is 5 minutes away was the best part of the stay there. Even though it was raining we enjoyed the warm waters and springs with our 1 and a half year old. It's an amazing resort and for 50 bucks for a two day pass it is a must do. If you want to relax, be super comfortable, have a private experience but not be alone and have the help of an amazing connoisseur of the area, then this is the place to stay. Great price by the way for the value.

Wendy was a great host for our first time in Costa Rica! She gave us great tips on supermarkets, places to eat and what tours to do. She was so helpful when my husbands luggage was delayed thru the airline. We gave the airline her number and when it finally arrived, she met the driver at a resort near by to get it for us! Our villa was clean, comfortable, and like a hidden oasis in the hills. We really liked that she had extra pool towels on hand to use at her pool and a "to-go" set of towels for us to take on our excursions. The kitchen was well stocked with everything one would need to cook meals and the one thing I would tell any future guests is that it is a little bit off the beaten path. It's not a bad thing, we liked the seclusion and we had a rental car, so going into town was not a problem. But if you weren't planning on getting a rental car, I would recommend it for this location. One with 4-wheel drive!

Wendy is a terrific host and has done an amazing job with her guest house. She had everything we needed for breakfast in the mornings, which was really nice. The pool was so nice, we loved the fruit garden, walking tails and hammock area. She has everything that you may need. Her puppies are adorable and are so welcoming, we will miss you mojo, matti and loco. You will see wildlife at her place. We saw so many different types of birds and she knows them by the sounds they make! There are also frogs and geckos and so much more. She was very helpful with recommending and setting up activities in the area. You have a beautiful place and will be back again! Thanks so much for everything!!
