The first appartment we came to was really not suitable to rent out. Dark, no windows and very uncomftable interior climate. But Marco and Vladimir was very constructive and quick to respond when we pionted out the fact, that we couldn't stay there with 2 children, and found a very nice appartment for us, which saved our trip to Rome......
Marco communicated very well before the trip. He arranged for a driver who was waiting for us at the airport. He charged us the same price as a taxi, $48. The check in lady was right there on time. She was all business, not too friendly. The location was great, right between the Vatican and Trastevere. It is a small, dark, but clean place for a good price. We would stay there again.
"Studio Trastevere was in Janiculum (not Trastevere as advertised.) There were no windows in the studio--only two small windows high up in the bathroom plus a window in the front door in the kitchen. There was an air conditioner but the apartment always smelled musty and was, of course, dark. The apartment was not very clean---we had to clean off shelves, the table and some of the dishes. Drawers in bathroom were too dirty to use. There was room for only 4 coat hangers in a tiny closet, so we had to live out of our suitcases. The shower was uncomfortably small. The hot water in the kitchen tap was never more than lukewarm. Old water pipes in the building banged loudly at all hours. Most upsetting were the noises in the building during the night and into the early morning---the yelling of one woman for an hour or more, the terrible hacking cough of a man, the loud parties just outside the ground floor kitchen door. Our sleep was disturbed each of the seven nights we were there. Each night we hoped it would be quiet, but it was not. If the apartment had been $80 a night one might expect some drawbacks, but for $123 we should have gotten something much better. We would recommend this apartment only to someone who doesn't mind dark, dirt and disruption."
We did not enjoy our stay in this Trastevere studio. It is closer to Vatican City than Trastevere. When we arrived we had to wait several hours to receive keys because the apt. is part of a network of many rentals so we had to wait until other appointments were done- although we did schedule the drop off for later in the day and changed our plans upon arrival. Once we settled in we realized the space was not comfortable. There are no windows in the living area and it was damp and musty. The bed was nice enough but the kitchen and bathroom are much smaller than they appear in pictures and for $120 I expected more. Also, there was no internet as was guaranteed on the listing. When we informed Marco he did say he would bring over a router if we gave him a good time to stop by. But my husband was so unhappy with the space that he just wanted to get to a nice hotel for our final days in Italy. After a few hours of contacting Marco about our plans to change he did offer to put us up in one of his other listings but my husband's mind was made up. Unfortunately Marco has a strict cancellation policy and none of our money was offered to be refunded- I thought half would have been a nice gesture and saved him a bad review. Marco seems like a nice business manager who tried to help us out and probably has other nice properties but you won't get a personal, lived in space, airbnb experience with these listings.
