Our stay at Silvia's apartment was absolutely perfect! Silvia and her husband made us feel welcome and at home, and she even offered us some lunch since we arrived a bit late and the supermarket was still closed. They are such lovely, kind and generous people. We received a welcome basket in the apartment with wine, different types of jam, nutella, different kinds of pasta and sauces, juice, dessert, as well as coffee and several different teas! Everything was so delicious! The apartment is located on a farm about 5 minutes drive from Asciano, a lovely little town that has a pharmacy, supermarket and some restaurants as well. You will need a car to reach the farm, but it is also quite difficult to get around Tuscany without a car. Silvia gave us some good advice about places to visit such as the hot springs (Rapolano terme) that are every close to the farm. The apartment is a very good base from where to visit the different towns of Tuscany. We visited Cortona, Siena, San Gimignano and Montalcino, which aren't more than 1 and a half hours drive from the farm. If I ever visit Tuscany again I would definitely stay at Silvia's apartment!
We had a great holiday at Silvia's home ! First the road to reach the Priora was magic and when we arrived we found a welcome basket with toscan's goodies and a beautiful apartment furnished with taste.
During our stay we could visit Siena and around.
The nature and the garden all around the Priora are beautiful : sunset , landscape, we saw wildlife almost every day too.
It's the best place to rest, enjoy the silence and the nature and , of course, all that Tuscany could offer. We loved to stay at Asciano or Chiusure for a coffee or pasta.
Unfortunately Silvia wasn't available during our stay and we would have liked to meet her. Thank you Silvia.
Staying at Silvia's was absolutely wonderful. The room we were in is a part of the Prioria originally from the year 980. It is beautifully restored and with gorgeous antiques and decor. Sylvia welcomed us with fresh bread and olive oil along with a tour of the grounds.
We felt so lucky to have found this place! We felt as if we were part of the family. One night, her mother-in-law invited us to her home in Sienna for drinks and appertifs. I want to adopt her as my own "suocera". We also got too your her own part of the Prioria. While there, I noticed a beautiful picture which was painted by her aunt. She took us to her aunt's home, and I purchased several small paintings for my own home. On another night, she introduced us to her friend who taught us how to make authentic pizzas in her wood stove and calzones. Wow! Also, she had rented bicycles for us (which we barely used-very very hilly there!)
I would highly recommend Silvia's apartment. It is perfect for 2-5 people who want to live in the heart of Tuscany while also experiencing some history. The town of Asciano near the Prioria is also extremely charming. We would actually consider living there.
Thank you so much Silvia!!!
We loved our stay at Silvia's apartment! The apartment was large and had was equipped with everything we needed.
Silvia was a great host and on our arrival she had left us some goodies including cookies famous in the region and some of their home grown olive oil.
The apartment was well located to explore Siena, Tuscany and the Brunello/Chianti producing vineyards.
On our last night we made pizzas in the wood fired brick oven along with Silvia and her friends. It was a highlight of our trip to Italy.
We hope to get back soon as there were lots of other things we would like to have done but we just didn't have time.
