The city of Melaka, founded around the year 1400, is considered to be the founding city of modern Malaysia. Being strategically located along major shipping routes, the city prospered during the reign of the Melaka Sultanate. It was later conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. A melting pot of various cultures and traditions, its uniqueness was duly recognised when it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage City together with the city of Georgetown in Penang in 2008.

Wei Yi is a great host, responding to my last minute booking request for this last minute short trip to Malacca ^^
My friend and I had only decided and booked the coach tickets on Sunday in a spur of the moment, to travel to Malacca on the next day, which was a public holiday in Singapore (June 1st). When I tried my luck to send a booking request on Sunday afternoon, Wei Yi responded and confirmed our booking almost immediately ^^
We met him when we reached. Although we were there much earlier than the check-in time, he gave us access to our room immediately since it was ready, and we really appreciated that. We could put our bags down and go get our lunch right away ^^
The room and the attached bathroom were clean and welcoming, and the air conditioning and heated shower were working well ^^
The location of the guest house is convenient and only minutes away from Jonker Street. If you want to stay close to Jonker Street but do not want the noise of the buzzling Jonker crowd, this is a good place to stay in. Just stay alert at night especially if you're alone, as the street where the guest house is on is rather quiet at night.
In our short 2D1N trip, we had met Wei Yi and his younger brother. They were a little shy but friendly, thoughtful and always smiling. When guests are hanging out in their lobby/living/dining/garden area (which were very nice and cosy corners to chill out at), they would switch on the ceiling fans where you were at, since they were normally switched off when no one's around ^^
The experience was good. Do try this place our when you plan to go to Malacca ^^
Wei was ther eto greet us and explain how everything worked. His small hotel is absolutely delightful and wonderful value for money. We were sorry not to be staying lnger.
I had a fantastic stay at Wayfarer. Wei and his family are all lovely, very welcoming and the place is really well looked after. Its in a gorgeous old house, really charming, with a stunning communal downstairs area opening out onto the river. My room was cool and quiet (there was a little bit of noise from next door but this is common in old houses) and the bathroom was nice as well. Wei had some excellent recommendations on where to eat in Melaka, and the location is spot on - really close to Jonker Street. I would definitely stay again!
Clean, spacious & very cozy. When my air-cond got problem at the night, they immediately help us to sorted the problems, even they have tried few times to make sure it's work. Very helpful.
Definitely will come again if visiting Melacca again. The living area are very breezy, wind from the river side through the whole building.
I had a good weekend here (with their old cat)...
We had a very nice 1 night stay at this guesthouse. The room was very clean and the guesthouse itself has a great old age charm. Nice communal area to relax in too. It's perfectly located by the river and close to all the main attractions in Malacca, you can walk to all of them in 5-10 minutes! The owners were very helpful in booking us a taxi to Mersing for the next day and finding us a parking place. All together highly recommended.
