  • We had a lovely time at the Shaka Shak! Cynthia (email hidden)! Our room was great with a king sized bed, our own bathroom and in room water and coffee service. Also Cynthia made us breakfast each day and gave us full use of the kitchen. You are about a 5 minute drive into downtown Hilo, and an easy drive to the waterfalls or other adventures in the area. It was exactly what we needed in Hilo!

  • Cynthia made us feel welcome from the start with her warm personality, home-cooked breakfast every morning, and great recommendations of things to do near Hilo. The room was conveniently located near the center of Hilo, and had all the amenities we needed. We also loved getting to know the other guests over our morning pancake breakfast. Thanks Cynthia!

  • Our room and the bed were fine. The house is NOT within walking distance from the center of town. The breakfasts and shared conversation with fellow travelers in the mornings were fun - we met some nice people. I didn't like being presented with a tax invoice at the end of the visit.

  • My husband and I had a wonderful time in Hilo and most of that was because of Cynthia. The room was exactly how it was described. It was clean and inviting. She had several brochures as well as her bucket list of things to do on the island. It helped us fill in the gaps on our plans. She was very communicative when we were planning and then after we got there as well. I hope that we can come back one day.
