  • I booked Rita's room for my brother DJ who stayed there three nights. He says: "The area is very convenient. Great restaurants around especially the udon restaurant down the street. The subway station is just a short walk away. The bed and room was very comfortable. You can also meet other travellers staying at her place. Rita is also very knowledgable about the area and will help you whenever she can. I recommend it to other travellers."

  • I'm staying in Kyoto Avocado Village for a week. It was a pleasant stay, the host was friendly and very helpful.

The place is really clean, have all the facilities we will need, and the guests can use (shared) kitchen - all the utensils provided.

The location is a bit far from many tourist attractions. It's close to Fushimi Inari shrine and Kyoto Animation studios, but quite far from Kiyomizu dera, Gion, Ginkakuji, Kinkakuji, Arashiyama, etc. On the other hand, I feel that I have stayed in a true local Japanese suburbs (not touristy). The place is within walking distance to convenient stores, vending machines, supermarket, pharmacy, onsen, and many other things you will need on a daily basis.

I'd recommend it and would love to stay here again if I'm visiting Kyoto.

  • A most excellent experience. Rita is super cool, she still met me at Ishida station though my arrival was severely delayed, and even made me a cup of tea when we got to her home. Very helpful with information about Kyoto and extremely accommodating in all respects.
Definitely would recommend staying here, so long as you're okay climbing steep stairs ;)

  • I really enjoyed my stay in Kyoto thanks to Rita and Avocado Village. As a "hostel" like environment, you do have different rules than if you are staying at someone's home. However, the rules didn't prevent me from enjoying my time and I felt comfortable staying here.
Rita was very responsive and helpful, so it was nice to know I could ask a question and get help, anytime.

  • Great stay!! The house was very clean, comfortable and in a great location. I can't recommend a stay highly enough

    October 2013
  • Rita was very accommodating, from cool lemonade upon arrival to three huge binders full of potential stuff to do. The other travelers were, like me, up early and home late, which was not an issue; no qualms about this place.

    I would stay here again.

About
Hello This is Rita. I'm a host of this share house. I enjoy hiking, travelling, shopping, meeting(new, intersting)people, coffee(finding a new nice coffee shops and restaurants)massage, wine, cooking, pilates, beauty(nail, skin care)and reading. I just started KAATSU training, and learning Kimono dressing. I have lived in Australia for 3 years and in New Zealand for 1 year. Kyoto is interesting place to visit, old and new things are existing together. I also recommend to visit Nara which is about 50min by train from Kyoto. Old and beatiful city. One of my hobby is eat out, so I know many good restaurants and cafes. If you are interested in trying to traditional Kyoto cuisine, or like to go any good restaurants in Kyoto, I am happy to introduce some of the places to you. Hope to have the chance to meet you!
