About This Listing
Location, location, location! But more on that later...
THE APARTMENT: This is a beautiful, sunny, air-conditioned, one bedroom in a two bedroom apartment, nestled right in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The room boasts beautiful sunny views of quiet backyards and blossoming trees overlooking private patios. It's on the second floor of a three story building facing the back and away from the street, so it's very quiet and private. There is an original folksy mural over the mantle that looks to be from the 40's which adds a lot of charm to the bedroom. The room has a calm, homey, peaceful feel and faces south resulting in great light all day long. Guests will have their own private entrance through the bedroom and have access to a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. I provide fresh towels, linens, and a bars of soap as well as complimentary fresh French press coffee. There are also plenty of take-out menus for late night cravings. The apartment, kitchen, and bathroom are kept extremely clean and are at your disposal for cooking or relaxing. Guests will also have access to free high speed Verizon Fios wifi and free laundry (washer and dryer) which is located in the basement of the building.
*Some reviews mention my brother, Nate who has also handled the AirBnB duties in the past, but now lives in Los Angeles.
**When we are in town we do sleep in the other bedroom which has its own separate entrance on the other side of the apartment. We are quiet and considerate and rarely home. (You won't even know we're there!)
LOCATION - If you're looking for the authentic Williamsburg experience then there is no better place to stay than this cozy little gem. The location absolutely can't be beat! Located just steps from two great parks, dozens of restaurants and bars, and a short three block walk to the famous Bedford L subway stop, you'll find everything you need to experience this ever more popular neighborhood for yourself.
MCCARREN PARK (pictured) - is just three short blocks north on Bedford Ave. You'll be sure to find this a lively cross-section of the artistic and free spirited community that calls Williamsburg home. During evenings in the summer there are kickball games, as well as softball and volleyball, and BBQ grilling until all hours. During the day and on the weekends the park is a lively hang-out filled with locals enjoying the weather and open space. If you're wondering what everyone is drinking out of large Styrofoam cups those are margarita's available at The Turkey's Nest, a little dive bar located on the west side of Bedford Ave just before you enter the park. McCarren park also has a well maintained running track, soccer field, and basic outdoor work-out facilities for public use.
EAST RIVER STATE PARK (pictured) - is just two blocks west of your accommodations and right on the water. There's a little rock and sand beach but no swimming is allowed. There you'll find beautiful sunset views of the Manhattan skyline, regular concerts and musical performances during the summer, and a weekly food and beer festival on weekends. It's a great place for a picnic or to take a rest after a day of shopping.

Interaction with Guests
We're always happy to get to know new people! However, we don't have much of a common space in the apartment. So we usually only get to chat while we are both passing through the apartment. We're a friendly pair, and respectful of our guest's space and privacy.
What's not to love about this neighborhood?
-fantastic people watching
-very accessible (one stop from Manhattan)
-great shopping (gifts, furniture, clothes, home goods, whatever you're looking for)
-a sense of community
-a weekly farmers market
-awesome vibes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not to mention that we are located in North Williamsburg, which is only a 10 minute walk from Greenpoint. Here is another fantastic Brooklyn neighborhood full of coffee shops, vintage stores, little book stores, and great bars. Greenpoint is like the chill cousin of Williamsburg.
L train, 3 blocks away (one stop from Manhattan)
G train, 8 minute walk

I am so glad we picked Robin's place to stay. The location was very central in Williamsburg, a neighbourhood we were happy to explore with many shops, cafes, bars, restaurants etc.). The apartment was only a few blocks away from the Bedford Avenue subway stop and we felt completely safe here. I will be recommending this listing to friends who are visiting New York.
The photos don't do the room justice - it is much bigger than it looks in the pictures. We had a separate entrance so it felt like having a private apartment. It was also very quiet - I had brought ear plugs but there was no noise from the street as the room is at the back of the building (it was amazing to be woken by bird song in the morning given the city centre location!).
The bed was very comfortable and we slept really well! There was adequate space to unpack our clothes, and it was great that fluffy towels were provided, as well as a hairdryer (so I didn't have to waste valuable suitcase space). The whole apartment was spotlessly clean.
Robin and Kevin were really friendly, and importantly gave us plenty of privacy. Robin provided me with very helpful information about how to get to the apartment when the L Train wasn't running when we arrived.
Robin's room was absolutely gorgeous; the little kitchen was well-equipped, and bathroom nice and cool. Everything was spotlessly clean. Unfortunately Robin and Nathan was out of town when I was there, so we never met in person, but it was easy to communicate with Robin, and responses were quick.
Only slight concern was the wifi seemed a little unreliable. I was always able to access it, though.
The neighbourhood is calm, but there's lot's of restaurants, bars and cool music places just a couple of blocks both to the north and to the south, so it's kind of ideal. Metro (L) is just a couple of blocks away; the G a short walk to the north.
Warmly recommended to anyone.
Staying at Robins place in Williamsburg was a great experience. I highly recommend the location and Robin was always there if we had any concerns. Only issue we had a few nights was the radiator making noise for a few hours in the morning but now it's summer shouldn't be an issue. Definitely a great place to stay!
Apartment: **** (dropped one * away because radiator & pipes kept some noise during night time. Should't be issue during summertime and most likely not issue during real winter season whew warming is on all day. Now warming was turned off and on due to unpredictable weather. That being said, it's part of the daily living in old apartments like this and it's part of the AirBnB as well.
Robin & Kevin are amazing hosts! They were communicative from my arrival to departure. They're easy going, kind and helpful and are busy enough with their own lives that you get your privacy. And they were even sweet enough to check in on me when I got really sick. I was out there working for the month so most of my time was spent in Manhattan. The apartment is 3.5 blocks from the L Bedford Station, so getting to Manhattan is really easy (but busy, so avoid peak commute if you can). After working long days, the apartment was comforting to come back to. The room is spacious, quiet since it doesn't face the street and gets lots of light. It's an older place with a few quirks, but the kitchen and bathroom are new. There's good restaurants within walking distance and I'm sure walking around there is very pleasant. I was there in February, so I was not spending much time outside in the freezing cold. When my travels bring me to New York, I will stay with Kevin & Robin again!
About the Host, Robin
Hi, I'm Robin. My fiancé Kevin and I will be your hosts! We are both artists and graduates of the Rhodes Island School of Design where we met. We've been living in NYC since 2006 and in this neighborhood since 2010. We're an active pair. We like to exercise, ride our bikes, and get out of town to enjoy the beach and the great outdoors, but we're equally happy to explore the art scene in NYC. We're often checking out the galleries, museums and fairs that make New York the center of the art world. Otherwise we're catching dinner with our friends, at one of the neighborhood movie theaters, or in our art studio in the Brooklyn Navy Yard making work and listening to books on tape. We're low key friendly people and we're looking forward to hosting you.
My brother used to live here and also hosted airbnb guests, so you may run across a review mentioning Nate, as well.
