Charming house set in the quiet ricefields of Penestanan (the "Brooklyn of Bali"), but close to all amenities...restaurants, spas, markets. Just a short walk into Ubud.
Comfortable accommodation, but Balinese in aesthetic....the best of both worlds!

The space

Hyacinth House in the village of Penestanan, is located in the rice fields, just outside of Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali and a short 15 minute walk away. We are on a small walking path just 10 steps up from the main road and 300 meters into the ricefields.
Close enough to take advantage of all that Ubud has to offer, but far enough away to ensure peace and tranquility.
This is a charming, 2 story, 1+bedroom home with a plunge pool, gazebo and garden.
It has a self-contained, lushly landscaped garden with views of the rice fields, close to a great Yoga Studio and many wonderful small, local restaurants.
This is a Balinese style house, recently refurbished with comfortable sofas (indoors and out) a wonderful covered veranda for outdoor dining and relaxing, ethnic artwork, new linen, towels, flat screen TV, DVD player, wireless internet and a full kitchen.
A stay at Hyacinth House includes a full breakfast of fruits, toast and homemade jam, eggs, coffees or tea. It also includes, WiFi, daily cleaning and utilities.
This is a perfect getaway for a single, couple or family with 1-2 children.
The upper bedroom has a queen size bed and small balcony with views over the rice fields plus a toilet and sink. The lower living area has a queen size bed set into a small private alcove.
There is a full garden bathroom downstairs with a shower, tub, toilet and sink.
The veranda is large and fully covered and has a sofa and armchair for lounging or reading, a dining table with 4 chairs and a small desk.
There is a great flow to this house between the outdoor and indoor areas, with lots of light, air and gentle breezes.
The garden is fully enclosed to guarantee your privacy.
Please come and enjoy our 'little piece of Paradise".

This place was lovely!!! It's worth noting that the walls don't meet the ceilings and a lot of the windows have only screens, not glass, so it can feel a bit like glamping. This proved to be no problem though as the staff did a fantastic job of keeping bugs and animals out of the house. It was impeccably clean and comfortable, and the location was great- a short walk to Ubud center but far enough away from the hustle and bustle that all you hear is the noise from nature. Ketut, the housekeeper, was one of the loveliest women you'll ever meet, and her breakfast was to die for. If you're looking to escape into nature in Ubud, look no further than this villa!

I had the best 7 days at the Hyacinth House. From the time I booked the trip I was well taken care of. Barbara was quick in replying to every query and question I had. Even if I didn't get to meet them I was well prepared for my trip and lots of recommendations were given to me for things to do around Penestanan and Ubud. Transportation was provided by their recommended driver Blue. And I will highly recommend him for airport transport and to hire him for any tours you would like to do. He was honest, genuine and was very helpful. I even learnt a lot about local life in Bali from him. Funny and Friendly driver and guide. The home was exactly it was described and in photos. It was very well kept and the balinese architecture and design made it very authentic. The view inside and outside was perfect. It was exactly what I had wanted my secret getaway from the crowd to be. It is in a small village just a short walk from Ubud central. So you have the peace and quiet but will also enjoy what Ubud and the surrounding area has to offer as it is very centrally located. There are lots of cafes, spas and a yoga studio conveniently located within minutes walking distance. The neighbors are local balinese people and some ex pats. It was very safe in the night, you do need a flashlight. But for a single girl living alone I felt very safe and protected. The house crew was absolutely amazing. Ketut cooked the most delicious and the best breakfast in bali. She was super friendly and took really good care of me. When she found out I am a dancer, her daughter came to visit and taught me some balinese dancing. Pia has become my bestie from another country now. It was my birthday and due to a festival everything was closed and the staff was on leave. But breakfast was left for me in the fridge and Pia made me a homemade brownie next day for my birthday. It made my birthday really special . I had some ant infestation problem one day which is very typical of tropical country but Pia took care of the issue immediately. If i needed a massage it as booked immediately with one phone call. There is a house phone available, flashlights and umbrellas. Loved sitting outside on the gazebo watching the sunset, or dipping in the plunge pool after a hot day. Listening to crickets and frogs in the night. It was relaxing and rejuvenating. Honestly, this was the best experience i have had in a very long time and I travel a lot. I will highly recommend Hyacinth house or any of the other bungalows they offer because the people made my trip memorable. I will be coming back more often now. Thank you Barbara, Pia, Ketut and Blue for the best trip.

Our stay at the Hyacinth House was wonderful! Everything you could need for a comfortable stay in Bali. We liked the fact that it was secluded enough that you had to take a footpath to get to it, but it was still definitely walking distance to the center of town. Would highly recommend!

Spent 6 lovely days at Hyacinth. The entire area is very tranquil and zen; it's accessible only by foot, so you get none of the crazy and noisy traffic of a typical asian town. If you're staying in Ubud, you should really stay in the Penestanan. The villa is spacious & clean. Sleeping on the first floor ended up being a better options since it's cooler at night compared to the master bedroom on the second floor. Loved jumping in the pool to cool down :) Breakfast every morning was delicious, and Pia and Ketut went above and beyond to accommodate our dietary restrictions (glutten and dairy free). Yellow Flower, which is my new favorite cafe is just 30 seconds walk away, and the Intuitive Flow Yoga studio another 30 seconds down the path.

The Hyacinth House is an authentic Ubud experience and the host and caretakers make guests feel welcome and prepared to explore the offerings of Bali. The location allows for walks into Ubud center. The property is safe and spacious and definitely puts you in the middle of Bali nature without being overexposed to the elements. Each day starts with a selection of home cooked breakfast items and the hostess will help with recommendations and arrangements for any activities.
