Interaction with Guests
We visit with our guests every couple of days to insure their comfort and answer any questions that they may have about Bali, the culture and what to do and see during their visit.
The neighborhood is very convenient to everything in Ubud and is a microcosm of the best that Bali has to offer. A walk out to the rice fields will enable you to experience the daily life of the farmers in this agricultural community. Watch the ducks as they clean the rice fields and get them ready for a new crop; see locals washing their laundry in the streams; visit with local artisans in their homes and really get a sense of what Bali is all about!
Welcome to our home. Please treat this house as your own. We have tried to provide every convenience for your comfort. We have furnished it with artwork and several collectible pieces for you to enjoy.
Let our housekeeper know if anything is broken or does not work properly so that we can continue to maintain it.
Please write in our guestbook before you leave, and on the Trip Advisor website when you return home.
Barbara and Henry were fantastic hosts. Flexible, communicative, and available. I showed up the day after being discharged from the hospital and Barbara kindly left me some snacks for my first bites of solid food. We also decided to come earlier than expected and they arranged for us to stay at their other property for that night. This was a vacation tagged onto a work trip with moving parts so I'm sure we were way more high maintenance than they are used to but they were nothing but accommodating and pleasant. We were also there through Nypei which meant lights out and we couldn't leave the villa for 24 hours. They sufficiently prepped us, checked in on us, and provided us with the breakfast ingredients for that morning. The only thing I regret is not having enough time to learn more about their story. We got to hear an overview from Henry our first morning but it was such a short trip. They have a fascinating story and I hope I get the chance to meet them again. As for the property? Serene, rustic, and relaxing. It was a great way to wrap up a long work trip.
Ubud was much busier than I expected. And I assume it will get busier as the years go. This villa is just the perfect distance away from the town that you get some peace and quiet. It is a short walk to town to see all the sites. The villa has an amazing private outdoor area for relaxing day and night. Steps away from the yellow flower which is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. He the hosts were so sweet, breakfasts were delicious and my driver was hilarious. Clean and affordable. It felt like home.
We had a lovely, peaceful time at Hyacinth House. The location is tranquil and the house is full of Balinese charm with beautiful pieces of art, I especially like the painting of the 2 Balinese girls. The house if so comfortable, we just want to lounge around all day! The pool just tops it off.
Ketut (our housekeeper) cooked us yummy breakfast every morning (try her Mee Goreng!) and the homemade jams are a treat. Thanks, Ketut!
Thank you Barbara and Henry for their hospitality. We will be back! :D
We spent a wonderful 9 days at Hyacinth House, for a start it was fabulous to be collected from the airport by Blu in a car....with a car seat, for our 8 week old grandson! and from there it just got better and better. Blu was terrific safe driver, very informative and VERY funny! he took us to some wonderful sites and nothing was too much bother for him. The house itself was exactly like the photos, very private and relaxing, the outside bale was beautifully cool and a lovely spot to sit and relax and catch the beautiful pink Balinese sunsets from. Ketut, our housekeeper also was wonderful, she made terrific breakfasts and was a great help with baby Henry & has a beautiful personality! The home is just a minutes walk to the nearest restaurant and only a few minutes to plenty of others. Unfortunately we didn't get to meet Barbara but Henry was a great host, very informative, helpful and friendly. The whole experience was fabulous and booking through Airb&b was very very easy. Thanks so much Barbara & Henry for making this home so lovely to stay in & we'd recommend it to everyone we know travelling to Bali! Annie & George
On being collected from the airport by Blu, Barbara's driver, we felt immediately comfortable & confident in our arrangements. Arriving late in the evening at Hyacinth House after a torch lit walk along a narrow, slightly precarious but enchanting Penenestan pathway, we felt a serenity & security in our lodgings- a beautiful home with privacy, views, gorgeous garden, lovely plunge pool & everything we needed to simply relax. Having travelled & stayed in Bali quite a number of times, this was however our first airbnb experience; we would absolutely reccommend!
Cosy place close to nature, fantastic breakfast and daily housekeeping. Different experience and definitely a great place to stay at for nature lovers
Hyacinth House was a brilliant find -the guide and driver Blue took exceptional care of us throughout our entire stay! Kutut the housekeeper makes amazing breakfasts for us and we love her Bali noodles and pancakes. The villa was serene and rustic right amidst the scenic padi fields of Bali and Yellow Flower Cafe nearby serves truly awesome food. Thanks to Barbara and Henry for a most lovely experience in Ubud!

My husband and I have had a love affair with Bali for many years, buying our Villa Sunrise on the beach in 2004, opening an Indonesian furniture and art gallery in Santa Fe New Mexico, organizing yoga and meditation retreats, and now having built our Villa in the ricefields of Ubud.
Villa Semua Suka and Bungalow Jepun were built in 2011 to western standards with a Balinese esthetic.
We have decorated the villa with high quality Balinese art, furniture and artifacts. Villa Sunrise, Villa Semua Suka and Bungalow Jepun are our 'homes' not 'hotels'........welcome Home!
