Make your visit to Barcelona memorable staying in this fantastic, luxurious, wonderfully restored, tastefully decorated with objects from Asia, modernist (art nouveau) style apartment, walking distance to many tourist attractions and a 17 min pleasant walk to Barcelona´s center!
This beautifully classical place, in the modernism style, is on the first floor of a traditional 19th century building in the Eixample district, next to a lovely and basically pedestrian street, centrally located in an area with great selection of restaurants and bars, close to public transportation and with stores and supermarkets nearby.
If your group consists of up to 6 people, why stay in a small apartment with insufficient showers, toilets and rooms and no air conditioning in all rooms (a basic need for Barcelona from June to September)? For just a bit more this apartment offers you 3 bedrooms, two full bathrooms and AC throughout to make your stay comfortable and pleasant, among lovely arquitectural details!!
It is an 15 min walk to Pl. Universitat (red metro line running north-south), 6 min to Passeig de Gracia, the upscale shopping artery of the city (green metro line running east-west) or Hospital Clinic (blue metro line) metro stations. Many buses stop 1-2 mins walk from the apartment.
The apartment is 100 m2 plus (1185 sq ft), with very high ceilings with charming original plaster crown molding, and beautiful floors with original hydraulic tiles in a patchwork pattern. It has been just restored, faithfully following the original floor plan and style, but with an up to date reinterpretation.
The apartment has a dining room/living room and a total of 3 double bedrooms, (one of them connected to one of the bedrooms but with an independent entrance through the bathroom) with air conditioning. Two of the bedrooms face the street but double glass block a lot of the street noise and the street is mostly pedestrian, the other bedroom faces the inside of the block and is quiet. It has a total of three double beds all of which can be converted into twin beds, so up to 6 people can sleep without having to share a bed. It also has a fully equipped kitchen that is lovely, modern and big but with classical charm and it has all you might need to cook plus dishwasher, microwave, etc. There are two full bathrooms (one with shower and one with bathtub). There is a washer and one TV.
I provide you with basics for cooking like oil, vinegar, salt and spices, 100% cotton white ironed linens, towels, beach towels, table cloths, ironing equipment, 2 hair dryers, 1 hair iron, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body lotion and assorted toiletries.
Check in and check out are flexible, except in cases in which there is a group coming/leaving the same day (doesn't happen often), in which case check out is before 10 am and check in is after 3 pm, although you can leave your bags in the apartment.
The whole apartment fits a maximum of 6 people.
Note that children/babies of any age also count as one person.
Please be reminded that this is an apartment within a residential building. It is VERY important not to disturb the neighbors, so no parties or loud music are allowed at any time. Also, you can invite over, during the day, one or two guests that you know from before your trip to Barcelona, no more, and occasionally, but under no circumstance there should be overnight guests or anybody who you just met...

I'm going to add my positive review to the chorus of great reviews... First, Julia is fantastic. She was very hospitable -- even providing a bottle of cava and coffee pods for the Nespresso machine.
The apartment was a charmer. It had an old school vibe in a great part of town; an easy cab ride or 20 minute walk into the old part of town. The front bedroom was a little noisy for those of you who are light sleepers, but the back bedroom was practically silent. we were a group of four friends and there was plenty of room for all of us, whether it was lounging in the living room before going out, sharing a few tapas and wine around the dining room table, or sprawling out for the night.
This place helped us make some good memories and when in Barcelona, I'll stay again!
Julia was a superb hostess! Our flight arrived later than expected and she had dinner waiting for us. She recommended restaurants and attractions that were wonderful. The apartment was absolutely charming, just perfect for our family of 5. We felt very at home. The neighborhood was lovely and close to everything. We felt like we lived there! Would go back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
Julia is very hospitable and gave us many useful suggestions and information. The apartment is very beautiful and has a very good location - nearby the subway station, supermarket just across the road, many restaurants within 10 minutes walking - very convenient. We've enjoyed every moment spent in Barcelona!
Julia is a wonderful host and lovely person! She brought us a couple extra pillows when I asked if she had any and helped us find our way by recommending restaurants and calling taxi's when we needed them. She was so helpful above and beyond, we so appreciated it!
The apt is in a great location. It's a bustling busy area by day and quiets down at night. I wore earplugs at night because the front bedroom is a bit noisy so it was no problem and worth it because sitting on the little balcony and watching the goings on while having breakfast was fascinating. (the front bedroom is right next to the living space, the back bedroom seemed to be more quiet)
We cooked a fair amount, there were 5 of us staying there. The kitchen and the markets near by had everything we needed to make our occasional meals as well as Thanksgiving dinner! Of which we went for the locale fare and had seafood instead of turkey.
In general the house had a little funk just little things, not worth mentioning in detail but the place is also super comfortable at the same time, with ease in getting to most areas of the city either by foot or metro. Loved it and would definitely stay here again!
We had a great time staying at Julia's place! She was very welcoming and had some champagne and traditional spanish foods waiting for us. The apartment is exactly as pictured on the website, and we were very pleased with it. It's very large and bright, with a big kitchen and living room for lounging. There was also a balcony and little sun room that we enjoyed. The neighborhood is great. I was initially worried that I was going to be too far away from the "touristy" area, but it's not--and I'm really glad we chose not to be at La Rambla. It's in a more upscale neighborhood, with a lot of good restaurants, bakeries, bars, etc. up and down the street. It's also a short walk to the metro station. It's also only a few blocks from a couple car rental places, so it's easy to rent a car for the day if you want to get out of town and explore. The walls are a little thin, but we didn't find it bothersome. Julia gave us many suggestions and tips, and also had two cell phones that we were able to use--which made things very convenient. I would definitely stay here again, and highly recommend this place.
Julia was an exceptional hostess and catered to all our needs in a caring and inviting way. She provided tips on travel, sites and transportation that provided a base for our travel plans. We loved staying at her old world charm apartment and would highly recommend booking with Julia for the best home away from home experience!

Hello and thank you for checking. I was born in Barcelona but have spent half of my adult life in English speaking countries, mostly living and working in New York were I landed 15 years ago for a postdoc in cell biology, and were I remained as an intellectual property manager for an important cancer hospital. Three years ago I quit to return to Spain, a return that was delayed due to finishing the renovation of my house in NY and because of some backpack traveling in South America. Upon my return I spent one year renovating a typical old Barcelona apartment (I just love old places!). Now you can enjoy the fruit of my arduous work! :)
