The Space

A wonderful boutique loft building that has historic landmark status. The loft features engineered dark hardwood floors, exposed brick walls and heavily timbered ceilings. Decorated with an eclectic mix of vintage and modern finds. Kitchen and bath are newly updated. The kitchen is fully stocked and and has granite countertops and stainless steal appliances. This is a quiet building but you can still hear city sounds --the CTA runs behind the building-- so if you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you. This is a ONE BEDROOM apartment but has 2 sleeping areas. The second bed is a "loft" bed and is accessed off main living space via a ladder. (see images) The space is perfect for a small family or a few friends visiting the city who would like more space than the average hotel room.

The Neighborhood

The building is located next to Columbia College and East West University and adjacent to the Hilton on Michigan Avenue. It is in a great location for visiting many of the city's best attractions:

Grant Park .1 mile
The Art Institute .7 mile
The Field Museum .6 mile
Millennium Park .9 mile
Soldier Field 1.1 mile
McCormack Place 1.7 mile
Adler Planetarium 1.2 mile
Navy Pier 2.3 mile
Union Station 1.2 mile
12th St Beach 1.2 mile
Burnham Harbor 1.5 mile

State Street Shopping and many restaurants also easily in walking distance. Just a 3 min walk to Trader Joes on Wabash and 5 min walk to the red line on Harrison.
Parking is readily available across the street or can be arraigned in advanced on SpotHero website /app.

Getting around

Easy getting around on public transportation - walk score of 98 and transit score of 100!

Other Things to Note

Other items to note: 2 flat screen TVs, dvd, basic cable, wifi, laundry, hairdryer, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, microwave, & iphone docking station.
Building does have an elevator. If you are allergic to pet dander be advised that I do own a dog that sometimes visits the property. There are no animals that live in the unit.

  • Our experience could not have been better! This is a prime location in the Loop and it was also just two doors down from Columbia College where our son had Orientation. We felt at home during our stay. The loft apartment itself is gorgeous- new kitchen and bath- and Hallie is extremely prompt and helpful 24/7. We are going back for sure! For anyone unfamiliar with this area- train noise is everywhere and is unavoidable in the Loop- so be prepared. We brought earplugs for sleeping:)

  • Great location very close to subway, walking distance to downtown, parks and amenities. Well stocked and furnished. Very happy we stayed there.

  • I'm a bit of a clean freak and I found this loft to be spotless. Very comfortable layout and roomy. Great restaurants nearby. Beautiful walk to Museum Campus.

  • A very nice, clean and well equiped apartment which lived up to all we expected. The design character was lovely. The immediate area was quiet but very convenient to walk into the loop or catch the L. Hallie was efficient. All in all a great apartment.

  • The loft was exactly as shown in the pictures. Four of us stayed at the loft and we were comfortable. We loved the hip vibe and the location. We were close to public transportation and several wonderful restaurants (Flos & Santos, Zapotista, the Artist Cafe to name a few). Hallie was responsive to questions and a pleasure to work with. This is a 5 star place to stay.

  • Had the BEST time in Chicago. LOVED Hallie's place!! Great location! Beautifully decorated, great neighborhood, no more that 10 minute walk from all transportation, great restaurants near by. We felt like locals. We cooked breakfast every morning. Apartment had everything we needed. Trader Joes is just a couple of blocks away. Hallie provides a binder with all the information you need to navigate the city and great recommendations for things to do, restaurants, shopping etc. She responds quickly if you ever need to text her. Very accommodating!! I would highly recommend her place if you are coming to Chicago

  • We had a fantastic week at Hallie's apartment, the location is great and it's easy to get to all the sights from it. The apartment itself is lovely, with fantastic attention to detail. Hallie was great, responding quickly and make the whole process as easy as possible. I would definitely recommend this place

  • Very cool loft. Very well kept home -- extremely neat. The host was extremely accessible. Only thing to be aware of is that you can hear / feel the El / Subway but was able to sleep through it no problem. Would stay here again!

  • Hallie's condo was wonderful! My husband and I took our 10 month old and my brother-in-law on a family vacation. The location was GREAT. Trader Joe's is only 2 blocks from the condo which was perfect for stocking up on snacks and beverages for the week. We wanted to stay close to the aquarium and museums and it was within walking distance (even for a baby in a stroller!) Hallie was very easy to communicate with - she responded quickly to text messages and answered all of our questions prior to the trip. The loft was very spacious and clean! Even the nook was great! It is small but perfect for what we were looking for which was just some privacy for my bother-in-law! Hallie provided a pack n play for our baby which fit just fine in the bedroom. The subway wasn't as bad as some of the prior comments made it sound. Yes, it is a subway and close, but after the first day- we barely noticed the noise and it did not interrupt our sleep at all and we aren't even very heavy sleepers. As far as food is concerned- we were very disappointed in Gioco's :( I know it was one of Hallie's recommendations but we all had a bad experience with our dishes for what we paid- I would not recommend that for Italian! All in all- we would definitely stay here again! It was perfect for our vacation - thanks again Hallie!
