Airbnb Partners with SF Pride 2015 to Create a Sense of Belonging and Moments of Welcome in San Francisco
As Official Grand Sponsor and Alternative Accommodation Partner, San Francisco-Based Company Joins SF LGBT Pride Celebration & Parade for the Second Year to “Host with Pride”
SAN FRANCISCO—June 4, 2015—Airbnb, the world’s leading community driven hospitality company, today announced its partnership with SF Pride, one of the largest LGBT events in the nation, celebrating the culture and heritage of the LGBT community, the welcoming nature of its San Francisco-area community of hosts, and pride for the city of San Francisco.
Airbnb and its local host community are excited to welcome guests from around the country and around the globe for SF Pride 2015, which is themed “Equality Without Exception.” As Official Grand Sponsor and Alternative Accommodation Partner for 2015, Airbnb will bring moments of welcome to life in the weeks leading up to the world-famous SF Pride Parade and Celebration, participate in the event, and encourage their employees and community of hosts to support the event and the city.
“We're excited to partner with SF Pride for the second year and continue to celebrate the LGBT community here in San Francisco and all over the world," said Chip Conley, Head of Global Hospitality and Strategy at Airbnb. "This year, in everything we do leading up to Pride and through the weekend, we want to honor San Francisco for being a beacon of belonging and celebrate the hospitality of our local host community by welcoming everyone traveling to San Francisco for this special weekend.”
Between June 13-26, Airbnb will introduce a “Welcome Wagon” mobile pop-up that will travel from neighborhood to neighborhood in San Francisco and encourage residents and visitors to participate in DIY activities and a community art installation. Airbnb is also partnering with Frameline39 - San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival, June 18-28, to provide additional hospitality to Festival goers prior to SF Pride.
2015 marks the 45th anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade, which will take place on June 27 and 28. Airbnb employees will also show their pride through ongoing volunteer commitments with community organizations that support the local LGBT community, such as preparing food at Project Open Hand, which provides meals to the elderly and sick, including those living with HIV/AIDs, and at Larkin Street Youth Services, which supports San Francisco’s at risk LGBT youth. The Airbnb community will also proudly be lending a hand at Frameline39 - San Francisco International LGBTQ Film Festival.
