Long before you hear it, you’ll feel it—the pulse of Kaaterskill Falls echoing through the forest. This is more than a hike; it’s a trek to one of the Catskills’ most iconic natural wonders. Weave through towering trees with me, climb natural rock staircases, and listen as the roar of cascading water grows louder with every step. • Meet at the Kaaterskill Falls trailhead for check-in and equipment fitting. Here, you’ll receive snowshoes or climbing spikes as needed, and get a quick rundown of the trail route and what to expect. • Begin the climb through towering woodland, followed by the Lower Falls Viewing Area for a mesmerizing, ground-level look at the cascading water. • Next, tackle a steeper incline as the landscape transforms into rugged rock formations. Natural ledges offer sweeping vistas of the Catskill Mountains along this stretch, and spots to rest and hydrate. • When you reach the Upper Falls Lookout, the full splendor of Kaaterskill Falls unfolds. But your ascent doesn’t end there. Continue to the very top and enjoy a moment of tranquility while soaking in panoramic views. As you descend and step away from the trail, the roar of the falls and the crisp mountain air will linger, calling you back for your next adventure.

Golden hour kayak on the Hudson River

Join me, an expert adventure guide and Catskills native, for a sunset kayak paddle along the historic Hudson River, looping around the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse as the sky turns pink. Beginners and experienced kayakers are all welcome. • Meet at the kayak launch in Athens, where you’ll get fitted for your gear. I’ll share an overview of our route and run through safety guidelines and paddling techniques. • Off you go! Paddle toward the lighthouse, exploring hidden inlets and spotting wildlife as you go. Along the way, I’ll discuss the history of the lighthouse and this region. • Tide permitting, pause at the Middle Ground Flats, a small forested island, to stretch your legs and take some photos. • As the sun sets, paddle to a scenic spot for quiet reflection and more photos, before heading back to our starting point as dusk settles in. You’ll leave having enjoyed a serene Catskills sunset—and an unforgettable experience on the water.

Join me, an urban forester and environmentalist, for an exploration of one of Philadelphia’s most treasured green spaces - Fairmount Park! You’ll visit botanical landmarks and uncover the stories behind unique trees and plants that highlight fascinating aspects of the city’s history. • Explore the lush indoor greenhouse at the Horticulture Center before visiting the Pavilion in the Trees, an interactive art installation nestled in a woodland canopy that offers insight into the park’s ongoing restoration projects. • Admire the serene Shofuso Japanese House and Garden and the Centennial Arboretum's remarkable trees including beautiful cherry blossoms in early spring. • Marvel at Michaux Grove’s towering oaks, planted in the 1870s along with others for the Centennial Exposition, before we walk back to the Horticulture Center. You’ll leave this nature walk inspired by the stories of trees and plants that connect the past, present, and future of this legendary city.

Hands-on dairy farm tour

We are Liberty Hill Farm, in Rochester, Vermont! Tours run Fridays through Mondays, at 9 am. Our farm tours are scheduled to coincide with daily chores to allow guests the opportunity to experience daily farm life. Guests will be able to watch the cow milking process and even try their hand at milking! From there, we will explain the journey from cow to milk jug. Guests will learn about the different ages and stages of the dairy cow, from birth through adulthood. We will meet, pet, and even feed baby calves, explore the barns, and meet kitties. Every tour is adjusted to meet the needs and interests of our guests. We encourage our guests to participate hands-on, and encourage questions and ideas! We simply love to share our love of farming and our animals with others! ***All proceeds from our farm tours go directly to our nonprofit organization, Liberty Hill Center for Agricultural Education. *** Other things to note: I only book about a month in advance, so if your preferred date does not appear, check back! Tours will be held rain or shine! I only cancel if temperatures are below zero, so please plan accordingly! It is up to the guest to check weather reports. No refunds will be given for guests canceling the morning of the tours for weather-related issues. We love all animals, but cannot host guests’ pets, for the safety and well-being of our animals!

The Original Hugs and Hike with the Herd, Rescue Goats

Did you know that spending time around animals reduces stress and increases feelings of happiness? You can double that when they are rescued goats! Come meet and spend time with some of the most affectionate goats there are. Visitors will get to meet and learn about each goat and breed, as well as their rescue stories, behaviors and personalities! You'll become part of the herd when we start on a leisurely 1 mile hike on meandering trails through our 15 acre property with the goats, who enjoy foraging along the way. Watching the goats in a natural habitat and bonding with them is truly magical! The experience is also loaded with goat fun facts, corny goat jokes and a goat scavenger hunt to make this experience the G.O.A.T. We end with extra quality time with all of the goats, who love lots of attention, allowing for plenty of hugs, scratches, and photo ops. This experience is fun for all ages - we have an equal amount of adults and children. If a date or time isn't available on our calendar, please ask! We would love to accommodate you if we are able! Bond with Rescue Horses in need of TLC

I’ll introduce you to each horse in the barn, you’ll learn their stories and feed them treats. Then we’ll select several and groom them slowly while listening to peaceful music that calms not only the horse but also you. By giving the horse love and attention you will learn to trust them, as they will learn to trust you. After they have been groomed we will take them for a short walk on a lead line either inside the indoor arena or out on the state park that connects with Hidden Springs Farm, depending on the weather. We’ll end the walk by returning to the barn and you’ll leave the farm feeling connected to nature and horses and feeling refreshed. Other things to note These horses are used to people but that doesn’t mean that they don’t get nervous. Ways to avoid nervous horses is to approach slowly, make no sudden movements and speak in a quiet, even voice. A lot of our horses have been through traumatic situations so this is important!

Explain the concept of nutrient solutions, pH levels, and water conservation. Phase 2 (15 min) Explain how to choose the right plants for Kratky Hydroponics. Demonstrate how to mix and manage the nutrient solutions and discuss the importance of maintaining proper pH levels. Phase 3 (1 hour) Participants start assembling their Kratky hydroponic grow kits by placing growing medium in containers, insert net pots, and prepare for seed planting. Participants plant seeds in their grow kits. while being guided on seed depth and spacing. Labels are provided to identify the planted seeds. Phase 4 and Closing Activities (30 mins) Discussion of common problems in Kratky hydroponics (e.g., pests, algae, nutrient deficiencies). Provide solutions and preventive measures for these issues. Learn how to recognize and address early plant growth issues. Discuss how to care for and maintain their Kratky systems at home. Provide participants with a follow-up resource packet, including care instructions, maintenance tips, and additional resources. German Shepherd Large Pack Hike

Enjoy the true outdoors with an easy 3/4 - 1 mile private nature hike hosted by a pack of loose, well trained German Shepherd Dogs. The hike starts at our farm in coastal Maine and wanders through a network of trails winding through a natural wild Maine forest. You will be hiking with a large pack of (5 to 12) loose german shepherd dogs of various ages who will want attention along the way! On the walk there are soft forest trails, sometimes mud puddles and slippery footing. Throughout our adventure you will learn tips on hiking with a pack of German Shepherds the way they communicate and what their body language means. Once we return there will be bathroom facilities, snacks and beverages. We will also talk about how we raise and imprint our young shepherds and prepare them as family companions. Your hosts for the nature walk will be either Jennifer, Katie, or both! We began offering pack walks at our open house for our German Shepherd Breeding program, and because of the enthusiasm and popularity, we decided to host this event through Airbnb. Hiking with Goats

A Ten Apple Farm goat hike is a two hour recreational and educational goat experience. You'll meet your hosts (and our herd of Alpine dairy goats), and hear about their 16 years of experience with goats and living on a small family farm. Once we've met the goats and the many other animals residents of the farm, we’ll set off on a hike through the Ten Apple Farm woods with the goats and Philip our sheep! The hike consists of an approximately one and a half mile loop trail through our woods on lightly groomed trails. Along the way we’ll talk about goats as pack animals, what they eat, and you’ll learn a thing or two about raising and caring for goats. There's lots of time for interacting with the goats, asking questions, or just soaking in the Maine woods and these adorable, fun animals. We end the experience with fresh goat milk and homemade cookies! Please note: Children must be at least 5 years old and accompanied by an adult. 5 and 6 year olds should plan to hold a parent's hand during the hike. (Children under 4 must be carried). Other things to note: The hike is not strenuous, but there is a little bit of steep terrain in 2 spots. We have rope railings on the trail to assist with getting up and down in those spots, but guests who have bad knees, hips, or other difficulties with uneven or steep terrain should be aware.

Forest Walk with Corgis and Fairies Houses

Take a rest from the stress of the modern world and get ready to fall in love with group of energetic fun seeking Corgis as they take you on a unique journey to a special place where you find hidden dwellings and discover the secret treasure chests. BlissWood Forest is located in Coastal Maine one hour south of Acadia National Park. You will arrive at Corgi Bliss, in the town of Penobscot, on the edge of the forest. There you will meet your hosts, the Corgis along with Jennifer or Katie. Drinks will be offered, as well as a discussion about safety while walking with the corgis . We will set off on our journey through the fields, and into BlissWood Forest. The easy half-mile hike is well maintained and goes at a leisurely pace. The loose Corgis will be scurrying about ahead as they sniff the ground and try to pick up the scent of pixie dust. Help the Corgis find the hidden treasure chests and secret swellings along the path. We pause a lot for selfies, kisses and cuddles from the animals. Then we loop down the trail and return to Corgi Bliss, where drinks and snacks are to be had before saying our goodbyes. We will be outdoors in the fresh air and forest, wear layered clothing and shoes that protect your feet from the elements. Enjoy the earthy smells and forest sounds, and the corgis. For safety, only our dogs can join us on this hike. Children under two years are FREE!
