Forage Edible Plants & Mushrooms
Find out what you can eat in the woods! We'll hike in the lovely Santa Cruz mountains where I'll guide you on a beautiful, quiet 1-2 mile walk in the unique coastal oak & redwood forest. Together we'll learn the ancient ways of identifying edible and medicinal mushrooms, plants, roots, flowers, nuts and seeds (depending on the season. Mushrooms come out after the rains and fruit through winter, sometimes into spring). Along the way we'll discuss proper harvesting and preparation techniques while connecting to the beauty and abundance of our ecosystem. This experience is a fun, hands-on way to connect to what can feed, heal and harm us in the wild. You'll walk away with a whole new appreciation and understanding of nature! The hike is doable for all skill levels. See you on the trail! Other things to note: Secure your own transportation to The Buttery and we'll caravan to the hike start. Bring: layers (it can get chilly in the redwoods), water bottle and comfortable hiking shoes. Optional: hiking poles, camera, hat, sunglasses. Walk Capitola Village along Monterey Bay
[Note: Your Tour Guide, Laura, is fully covid-vaccinated and boosted]. Come along on a walking tour of Capitola-by-the-Sea where, at a relaxing pace, you’ll learn about this colorful, lively and charming town. With Laura as your Guide, you’ll see the sights missed by most visitors.....I’ll show you the hidden back streets, stairways and paths which show off our local architecture as well as the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. You’ll start to see the fantastic views shortly after our walk begins. The walking portion will last about 1 ½ hours and is about 2 1/2 miles in length. You will see hidden streets, paths and art, typically known only to locals. And you’ll understand why people have been vacationing in Capitola for almost 150 years! The tour finishes in the heart of the Village where there are several wine bars specializing in fine California wine, most with outdoor patios. You might want to stay and enjoy the evening by taking a sunset walk on the beach, or having dinner at a local restaurant. Overall, you’ll come away with a local’s experience and feel the friendly, surfer-vibe of Capitola. This experience is great for corporate groups and team-building! (If you prefer a different start time, or would like to modify the tour to meet your specific interests, I’m happy to do that. Please contact me to discuss).
Beginner surfing experience
I'm flexible to teach surf lessons 7 days a week. Message me with a date you're interested in, and I'll check to see if conditions will be good to go surfing! Come paddle out with me! We'll have a great time learning to surf together! You'll be given instructions on how to maneuver the surfboard in the challenging ocean environment, how and when to stand up, as well as where to paddle out, and paddle in safely. I will take us to a great area for beginning surfers somewhere up and down the coast other than Cowell's Beach which is generally very crowded. This location will depend on the tides/winds and waves the day of your lesson. I will aide you in catching your first waves so that everyone gets to ride waves their first day. Most of you will be able to stand up your first day and feel the rush of riding Nature's energy in a truly pure form. I will also do my best to capture some of your rides using a goPro camera so that you have a photographic souvenir of your experience, and I try to send everyone at least a few pictures from their day surfing - no extra cost! Other things to note Most surfers wear nothing under a wetsuit but, I find beginners like having a bathing suit underneath. Have a bathing suit underneath your clothes, and bring a towel to change with. Bring sunscreen, driver's license/credit card to rent a wetsuit.

Macaron making with a Master Chef - Carmel by the Sea
Macarons are incredibly popular, pricey and one of the most difficult pastries to master. When I started, it took months of trial and error with the recipe, preparation, baking and temperatures. You begin with learning what a great macaron is and then exactly how to create them from scratch. All the tips and tricks and common pitfalls are discussed. The idea and aim is that you should be able to create beautiful macarons at home! We create macarons from the 4 basic ingredients and discuss how your macaronage (macaron batter) should look when it is ready to be piped. We move on to how to perfectly pipe your macarons and how they should feel when properly cured and ready for the oven. Do not worry if you have never used a piping bag - I will teach you how! We then fill our macarons discussing flavors, others types of fill. In all, about 1.5 to 2 hours of solid, professional instruction. All tools, ingredients and recipes will be supplied. You will leave with a full dozen macarons! PS - An optional Macaron Kit $25 is available for purchase - includes: Silicone baking mat, piping tip, macaron piping bag, and buttercream piping bag. Once you sign up, message me and I will have a kit ready the day of your class.
Sunset sail on beautiful Monterey Bay
Come see the sunsets for which the central coast of California is renowned. We'll leave the dock after a quick briefing, hoist our sails and head out to watch the sun disappear behind the horizon, the Monterey Peninsula, or sometimes a fog bank. Then, we'll head in and see some wildlife on the way. Sea lions, otters, and sea birds abound in the Monterey Harbor. Guests will arrive at the dock around dark.
Scenic eBike Tour along Seventeen Mile Drive in Pebble Beach

In the open air you'll smell the ocean & hear the waves. And as we explore this most scenic stretch of ocean from Cannery Row to Ghost Tree, look for deer, seals, otters, sea lions, and whales! Our tours are great for anyone comfortable riding a bike. Though you have to be over 14 years and 4'10" to ride solo, we can accommodate younger children as passengers with a parent on our e-Tandem bikes for $59 each. Goat Walk on The Beach
We are hosting a goat walk on the beach with two or more goats in our herd for individuals and groups. A few hours before our meeting time we prepare and transport our trained goats from our herd all the way down to the beach from our sanctuary to walk alongside you for a unique, once in a lifetime experience. Our goats are very special goats nurtured from birth by Billie and her interns to develop a strong trusting relationship with people. Our goats love people and are very interested in getting to know the people they meet. We will meet at the trail head that leads to a very magical and less frequented beach location. When we meet at the trail head location we will talk for about 10 minutes with tips on goat safety. We will also talk about goat companionship, interspecies communication, and the history of humans and goats plus lots more while we walk the trail to the beach guiding the goats along side us stopping to munch a bit. The path to the beach includes a beautiful forested landscape and a few flights of stairs so be prepared to walk some stairs. The walk down to the beach takes about 15 minutes. We will spend about 40 minutes on the beach with the goats. This walk may be canceled if there are less than 4 guests booked. So invite friends! Children are welcome to attend with adult supervision. The whole experience will last no longer than 90 minutes.

A day of ocean-to-table with Big Sur Salts
We'll meet you in downtown Monterey, CA. where we can park our cars for several hours. There are a few parking lots that have full day rates and per hour rates. This tour takes approximately 5 hours. From there, we'll hop on an experience-only shuttle bus* and drive to one or more of our (Big Sur Salts - http://bigsursalts.com) sea salt farms in Big Sur! We then head over to one of our greenhouse facilities to show you how we recreate what was seen and learned about sea salt crystal formation along the coast. Then we'll travel back to Monterey and spend an hour or so at a local restaurant where we eat a few menu items that include our salt! Finally, you get to create a salt blend with ingredients we provide, so you can take home a piece of Big Sur! Great for groups, teambuilding, and as a corporate event, as well. *shuttle service requires a minimum of 4 guests. If there are less than 4 guests, we can take personal vehicles to all locations.
