Kokedama Plant Making Workshop
In this experience, we will dive into the Japanese art of kokedamas. We will first talk about the fascinating history of this old art form, as well as how it is related to Japanese customs and the philosophy of wabi sabi. Then, I will show you how to make your first kokedama. Making kokedamas involves turning peat moss into a soil ball and then wrapping it in sheet moss to create a self sustaining pot to hold your plant. Each person will have their own station to create TWO kokedamas, that will eventually be taken home.
This is perfect for those who are looking for a romantic and unique date or an enjoyable time spent with a family member learning a new trade. We have hosted many birthday and bachelorette parties, if you are looking for a special way to celebrate in nature. We are also perfect for group team building if you'd like to do a private corporate/business class.

Play with Clay at Pottery studio
Working with clay is mesmerizing - and challenging. After a tour of the studio, guests will don aprons and sit down at their own wheel to "throw" up to 5 pieces. We work "hands-on," with each person to insure that you make at least 1 or 2 beautiful vessels. If you decide that you want to "finish" your pieces, there are 4 more steps: trimming, bisqueing, glaze and high-firing. The process takes about a month, and a second visit is essential if you want to glaze your finished product. This price is the same for a glazing class, if you'd like to come back within 3 months, or you may select your colors (from more than 40 finishes) and we'll glaze for you. After that, we can ship your pottery anywhere in the country.
You can also choose to have a hand building class where molds are provided for plates, platters and bowls.
If you are interested in having a party of 6 or more I can accommodate and have a hand building party.
AS A SAFETY MEASURE, MY POTTERY WORKSHOPS IS
LIMITED TO 2 PEOPLE. Wheels are placed far apart and masks are not required. Our studio is "open-air" so dress appropriately.

Shibori Tie Dye a Silk Scarf
In this workshop, guests will learn the beautiful art of Shibori Dyeing Techniques with Indigo dye. Shibori Dyeing includes the folding, clamping, stitching, and compressing of cloth before dipping into dye to achieve stunning patterns. After each of these techniques are demonstrated, each guest will have the opportunity to choose the technique admired most to dye onto 1 yard of cotton that can optionally be cut into sample squares. Additionally, a luxurious silk scarf will be provided to be dyed on.
Class begins with an introduction to the beauty and history of Shibori and Indigo Dye.
After seeing the various ways of achieving patterns onto cloth, and demonstrations of each technique, we will dive into manipulating our fabrics to be dyed.
We will use a beautiful dye bath of natural Indigo and watch the wonders of our fabric go from bright green to blue as it oxidizes. Each guest will unravel their fabrics to behold the beauty of the patterns that have been created.
