it’s that giant, candy-striped concrete marker at the end of Whitehead Street, literally the southern tip of the continental U.S. Picture this: bright yellow, red, and black paint screaming “90 miles to Cuba,” waves crashing right behind it, palm trees swaying like they’re posing for Social media. Tourists line up for selfies—some in flip-flops, some in wedding dresses—everyone grinning like they’ve conquered the world. The ocean’s right there, turquoise and endless, with sailboats drifting by and that salty breeze hitting you. Here’s the classic shot—people crowding, sun blazing, buoy front and center. Walk over from Duval, grab a frozen key lime pie from a nearby stand, snap your pic, then wander back through the old Conch houses—total easy win. Just go early; by noon it’s a zoo!

Okay, I'm starting with the obvious, don't judge. Go and see the Hemingway house and see the cats with 6 toes. But, book a tour with a guide. If you just walk through you'll be like, "oh wow, a house...cool." But, if you do the door you will really enjoy the experience. Try to go during the week when it isn't as busy. Side note, if you haven't read "Old Man and the Sea" since high school, read it again. It's better after you have lived a bit. In fact, I'll leave a copy here for you.

Övedskloster Övedskloster is a castle in Öveds parish in Sjöbo municipality built in French rococo style. This red sandstone building is surrounded by beautiful avenues. Cherry Pond Boardwalk, Great viewing point for bird watching and mountain pictures. Amazing colors during fall season. Platform is just over 1.5 mile away from parking lot. Very easy trail, accessible for anyone. Portable toilets in parking lot most of the season. Biking is allowed on trail. Locals also bring their horses on the trail. Perfect for a family hike with little ones.
