Airbnb is looking for a Head of Email Marketing to join the family. The best email marketing campaigns in the world engage the right users at the right time with the right message through intelligent segmentation, a true love of analytics and business intelligence, and a passion for scalable delivery enabled by world-class technology.
You would own this process from soup-to-nuts, and also facilitate distribution of amazing assets such as our poignant videos, wonderful content and fantastic host engagement events around the world. We’re looking for a true creative who also geeks out on optimizing emails through multi-variate testing and fist pumps every time open rates increase an extra hundred basis points. The right candidate would straddle many worlds, including design, product, content, analytics, and of course, marketing.

Define an email marketing strategy for Airbnb globally while collaborating with our in-country market experts and regional marketing leaders.
Architect email marketing strategies for our traveler acquisition, host acquisition, re-engagement, retention, segmentation and merchandising (cross-sell, up-sell) campaigns.
Collaborate with marketing, communications and in-country teams to build a content calendar and guidelines as to how to engage with our users.
Insure that our e-mails showcase our values and do nothing to undermine the trust and enthusiasm of our customers.
Contribute to the “brain trust” of innovation across all online marketing channels, including search, display, social and partner marketing.
Empower other teams within the company to communicate with our community using e-mail (both ad hoc and recurring newsletters).
8-10 years of database or direct response marketing experience, with at least 5+ years in email marketing of a consumer product.
Experience leading an in-house email marketing team.
Significant global email campaign management experience (read: understands regulatory differences between delivering emails in the US vs. Germany).
A track record of achievements in dramatically improving email marketing performance and tracking performance against both delivery and revenue targets.
Proven experience using email to drive growth of a consumer product at global scale; scale of database must have been at least 10m e-mail addresses.
Familiarity with multiple ESPs, pros and cons for each.
Ability to provide thought leadership and direction to a cross-functional team spanning engineering, product, marketing and analytics and manage complex projects with aggressive timelines.
Thoughtfulness as to how to repurpose Airbnb content from different content channels within an email strategy, and vice versa.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Excellent analytical skills (you must LOVE data); experience with A/B testing within the email channel.
