The Communications team is responsible for telling the Airbnb story around the world. Whether it's speaking to media and bloggers, hosts and guests, industry commentators, thought leaders or the wider community, the Communications team is the voice of Airbnb. This position will be based in Airbnb’s Japan office, where you will work closely with our Head of APAC Communications. You will contribute to our overall APAC strategy and manage all communications and PR activities in Japan. This also entails regular travel. You must be comfortable with and have experience communicating directly with journalists; managing campaigns and agencies; and developing strategic communications plans and materials. We are looking for effective and creative communicators who have the ability to explain complex ideas in simple ways and who like multitasking as much as working in a multi-cultural team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Managing communications activities and strategies for Airbnb in Japan, including agencies.
  • Contribute and collaborate with the APAC and global communications team.
  • Handle day-to-day media inquires and briefings across Japan and Asia
  • Develop written materials, story pitches, messaging guidelines, press releases, Q&As, presentations and speeches.
  • Work with company spokespeople to prepare them for public speaking engagements, media interviews, and company meetings.


Requirements:

  • Excellent command of English and Japanese, written, read and spoken
  • 6-8 years experience in Public Relations
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience in running regional PR campaigns in Japan and Asia
  • Strong consumer/lifestyle/travel media contacts
  • Experience in managing projects in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent writing skills, with samples to share
  • Unwavering verbal communications skills in any situation
  • Maintaining enthusiasm and calm demeanor in even the most stressful situations
  • Ability to work with international teams and quickly develop an understanding for the cultural differences
  • Passion for Airbnb and the mission of the company
  • Experience managing agency partners
  • Must be able to spend a minimum of one month in the Singapore office for training
