Marketing Director, Asia Pacific Region

Airbnb is relatively new to the Asia Pacific region, but is already seeing rapid growth. We aim to accelerate this growth through impactful marketing throughout the region. We are seeking a marketing leader who can build Airbnb’s brand presence from the ground up and translate core brand messaging into actionable, locally relevant, growth-oriented marketing.

The APAC Director of Marketing will report to the VP of Marketing (based in our San Francisco headquarters). They will be responsible for the strategic plans and implementation of marketing programs to drive profitable growth for the region. They will build an in-house marketing team, manage agency partners, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including PR, online marketing, product, and regional leadership.


  • Develop business and brand strategies and a creative platform that communicates a compelling value proposition for current and prospective users in each key market; collaborate across functions to drive your vision

  • Recruit and develop the APAC marketing team; provide exceptional team leadership with a focus on employee engagement, mentoring, development and retention, while also attracting top talent

  • Develop and manage agency partners as they scale the marketing function

  • Be the relentless advocate for localization across each market in APAC; ensure all marketing activities feel local and personal; articulate market nuances for other teams who aren’t familiar with the region

Job Requirements

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) executing digital marketing, SEM, experiential campaigns, offline marketing, partnerships and sponsorships, and social media-driven marketing in APAC

  • Experiencing managing agencies

  • Deep experience in the Asia Pacific region with a wide exposure to multi-cultural environments

  • Budget ownership

  • Willingness to regularly travel internationally

  • Proven solid leadership of teams, measurement of ROI, and accountability for results

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

  • Strong analytical, planning, and forecasting skills

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills; able to articulate a vision, strategy or idea clearly

  • The ability to work at both strategic and tactical levels…not afraid to “get your hands dirty”

  • Native command of a local language and fluency in English (written and verbal) required

  • Appreciation for design and a passion for Airbnb
