What is a response rate?
A response rate is a percentage that denotes how responsive a host is to inquiries and reservation requests.
• Inquiry: the initial message from a guest about particular dates; not a reservation request or a message without dates.
• Reservation request: a request to book a reservation; the guest has submitted payment details through the Airbnb payment system.
We have a program that runs multiple times daily to calculate the response rate. It accounts for the past 30 days, based on the following:
• If the host has replied to inquiries and reservation requests.
• How long the host took to reply to inquiries and reservation requests.
A response rate requires roughly 8 messages in the past 30 days to come up with a percentage. Otherwise, it gives the neutral rate of N/A. Low response rates may cause a listing to be deactivated.
