What is a response rate?
A response rate is a percentage that indicates how responsive a host is to the initial messages they receive. We use this number to show guests how likely a host is to respond to their requests. The response rate counts all new message threads created in the past 30 days, and measures:
- If the host has replied to initial messages
- How long the host took to reply to initial messages
We update response rate calculations multiple times per day in an effort to keep the statistics as up to date as possible. If a host has had less than 10 message threads started in the past 30 days, the response rate is calculated using the 10 most recent initial messages within the past 90 days. If the data is unavailable, the response rate is considered neutral and will not display.
A very low response rate may cause a listing to be temporarily deactivated.
