What happens if my reservation request is declined or expires?

If your reservation request is declined by the host or expires, no charge is made for the reservation and you are free to book with another host. Your payment method may be authorized for a charge, but this authorization is voided and released back to the payment method if the reservation request is retracted by you, expires, or has been declined, including service fees. We complete a charge only when a reservation request is accepted.

We urge our hosts to keep their calendars up to date and respond to inquiries in a timely manner. However, sometimes a host may not be able update their calendar or respond to you in the allotted time frame.

We recommend messaging several hosts prior to submitting a reservation request to inquire about their availability and ask any other questions you have. Read more.
