    How do I send a guest a special offer?

    If a potential guest sends you a message before they book a reservation, you can send them a custom price, or special offer, within the message thread.

    How it works

    To send a special offer:

    1. Go to your Inbox
    2. Open the message from the guest
    3. Click Special offer
    4. Under the Subtotal, enter the price you’d like to offer for their stay
      • The price should include all nights of the reservation
      • Be sure to include the cleaning fee, as well as any additional pet or guest fees
      • Don’t include taxes or the service fee (these will be added automatically)
      • Don’t include any security deposit (it will be handled as normal)
    5. Click Send special offer

    If you’ve discussed offering the guest a different listing, or changing the dates or number of people, you’ll have an opportunity to include these in your offer as well. If you do want to offer them a different listing, it has to be one on your same hosting account.

    How guests respond

    Once you’ve sent the special offer, we'll notify the guest. They’ll receive the details, including the new price with separate line items for the taxes and service fee.

    The guest has 24 hours to accept. If they do accept, the reservation will automatically be confirmed.

    How special offers work with your calendar

    A special offer doesn’t block dates on your calendar unless it’s accepted by the guest.

    You can offer multiple guests a special offer for the same dates (even for the same listing). We recommend being transparent with your potential guests that others may be interested in the same dates.

    Troubleshooting

    If the guest has already submitted a reservation request, or has a confirmed reservation, you won't have the option to send a special offer. However, you can update an existing reservation, including the price, by changing the reservation.

    If you don't have the option to send a special offer, check that the dates on your calendar aren't blocked or that you don't have any pending reservation requests for the same dates. If you have a pending request from another guest, you'll need to decline it before you can send a special offer.
