Overview of your profile

Airbnb is a community made up of people – people you travel with, people who host your stays and experiences, and other travelers you might meet along the way.

Your Airbnb profile is how you introduce yourself on Airbnb, and it represents you as an authentic, trustworthy individual to others in our community. It includes your verified identity, profile photo, hometown, languages spoken, personal interests, fun facts like your favorite song, and even travel stamps representing each trip you’ve taken on Airbnb.

You can update your profile anytime, and it’s visible to hosts and other guests whenever you book, join a trip, or leave a review. It helps build trust with hosts you might want to stay with, guests who are interested in staying at your place, and other guests you meet on experiences.

Where your profile is shown

Your profile is public and profile details may be shown across Airbnb— in reviews, in group message threads, and on group reservations. If you are a host, your photo may be highlighted in search, on your listings, and in emails to guests. In addition, your profile is visible to everyone in your Connections.

If you’re a guest, your profile is shared with your host, and if you choose to share your profile on an experience, your profile photo and the state or country associated with your hometown will be shown on the public guest list for the experience. Update your profile to make sure that you show up how you want to for your connections, hosts and other guests on Airbnb.

What info is shown on your profile

The profile is made up of details about your identity, reputation, history on Airbnb, and details you provide such as fun facts and languages spoken. The info shared varies whether you’re a host, guest, or both.

The info common to everyone is your first name, profile photo, the number of years you’ve been on Airbnb, if you’ve completed identity verification, what month and year you were first identity verified, and any reviews you’ve given or received.

Host and guest profiles feature details you provide about yourself, all of which are optional. These include basic information like languages spoken, and the decade you were born, and fun facts like where you’d most like to travel, where you went to school or work, and favorite song.

Additionally, both hosts and guests can choose to include interests, travel stamps, which include locations, and dates of trips on their profile. Sharing interests and past trips help showcase things you may have in common with other people.

You can add optional info to your profile

While Airbnb automatically adds some basic information like your first name and number of trips to your profile, any additional information you choose to add is optional. This means that how much info is included and shared—like what languages you speak or your interests—is up to you.

Profile photos for guests

While we encourage all users to have profile photos, we do require them for hosts.

Guest profile photos will only be shown to hosts after a confirmed booking. Some hosts may require a photo for booking, so it will be required to complete a reservation. Photos are then shown to the host after the reservation is confirmed.

How your profile info is used

We use your profile information, like other personal information, in a manner consistent with our Privacy policy.

If you’re submitting a request to book a Celebrity Airbnb Original, you may be required to complete specific fields or portions of your profile, but you can always edit or delete info from your profile later.
