Illegal and prohibited activities

Airbnb doesn’t allow behaviors that could harm our community. When we become aware that users engage in illegal or prohibited activities during Airbnb reservations, we take action, which can include removing their accounts. We also support criminal investigations.

Below are some examples of what we prohibit:

  • Drugs: Users are not allowed to possess, cultivate, produce, or distribute illegal drugs. Guests must follow Hosts’ house rules relating to smoking and the use of legal drugs, which should be stored safely to prevent unintended access.
  • Sex work: We do not permit paid sexual services at an Airbnb listing, even in locations where these activities are legal. This includes soliciting, attempting to solicit, promoting, or offering paid sexual services, such as prostitution or erotic massages.
  • Other commercial sexual activities: Airbnb listings should not be used for the creation of commercial pornography. We also do not permit Airbnb listings to be used for other sex-related online or in-person commercial services (e.g. stripping).
  • Human trafficking: We will take action against any user engaging in or facilitating the transport or detention of a person without their consent in order to exploit that person. This includes forced labor and sex trafficking.
  • Child sexual exploitation: We will remove and report anyone involved in forcing, manipulating, enticing, or otherwise engaging someone under 18 years old in sexual activity, regardless of local laws.
