The total cost of your home reservation may change if you update the number of guests, depending on your host's pricing policy.
If the cost increases (additional payment):
If the host’s policy includes a fee for extra guests, the additional charge is typically applied to your original payment method immediately upon the host’s approval of the change. However, for certain payment methods, you may have up to 48 hours after the host accepts the change to submit the extra payment.
If the cost decreases (refund):
Any resulting refund will be issued to the original payment method used for the booking. The time it takes to receive the funds depends on your bank or financial institution. You can find the average refund timelines for more information.
After submitting a trip change request to add any guests, it's important to wait for your host's approval before having your guests show up—your host will need to first confirm that they can accommodate a different number of guests.
Once your host approves the change, you'll receive a confirmation, and the reservation details will be updated to reflect the changes.
If you submitted a trip change request and your host hasn’t responded to it, try sending them a message reminding them to review your request.
It's not possible to transfer a reservation to someone else. If you can't make a trip, you’ll need to cancel the booking and ask the other guest to rebook.
Depending on the host's cancellation policy, there may be a cancellation cost. Also, the cost of the rebooked stay may be different from that of the original booking.
If you’re within the free cancellation window, you can cancel your reservation and rebook, so long as the hotel has availability.
If you’re outside the free cancellation window, you can contact the hotel directly to ask if they’ll offer you a refund so you can rebook. Please remember that this may not be possible and it would need to be authorized at the hotel’s sole discretion. Tip: Calling your hotel can lead to a quicker response.
