Guided Tours
Generally speaking, you do not need to have a special licence or registration to provide guided visits of public areas or monuments in Amsterdam. You may, however, need authorization to provide guided tours of private buildings, public buildings or attractions, for boat trips (see the next section), or to provide tours in certain areas of the city. Check with the City of Amsterdam, or the relevant authority, for more information.
Boat Trips
Hosts organizing or providing tours of Amsterdam by boat may need to register, obtain licenses, and follow specific rules that apply. More information can be found at [Experiences involving Transportation]. This section is not intended to be comprehensive, check with Waternet and Amsterdam City Hall for the rules that may apply. The website of the Transportation Department may also be useful.
Is there anything else I should know when I organize guided tours?
Yes. Hosts who have questions or are otherwise unsure and need further information should contact their local city authority, or seek advice from a legal professional. You may also consider consulting an insurance broker or specialist to find out what coverages you may want to take out.
