How a Host cancels a booking
Airbnb guests look forward to their trips, but we understand there are times when you may need to cancel. When you do, we recommend you also send your guest a message as soon as possible.
To cancel a reservation:
- Go to Reservations
- Go to the reservation you want to cancel and click Details
- Click Change or cancel reservation > Cancel reservation
- Select your answers to the questions that follow, and click Next
- Confirm the details and click Cancel reservation
- Tap Profile
and then tap Switch to hosting
- If you are shown the reservation you want to cancel, tap it and proceed to Step 4
- If not, tap All reservations and select the reservation you want to change
- Tap Cancel reservation
- Review the information, then tap Cancel Reservation to continue
- Tap to answer the questions that follow and tap Next
- Confirm the details and tap Cancel reservation
- Tap Profile
and then tap Switch to hosting
- If you are shown the reservation you want to cancel, tap it and proceed to Step 4
- If not, tap All reservations and select the reservation you want to change
- Tap Cancel reservation
- Review the information, then tap Cancel Reservation to continue
- Tap to answer the questions that follow and tap Next
- Confirm the details and tap Cancel reservation
- Tap Profile > Manage your listing
- If you are shown the reservation you want to cancel, tap it and proceed to Step 4
- If not, tap All reservations and select the reservation you want to cancel
- Tap Change or cancel reservation > Cancel reservation
- Select your answers to the questions that follow, and tap Next
- Confirm the details and tap Cancel reservation
You may not be able to cancel active reservations or those for which check-in is scheduled to occur within 24 hours. In those cases, you’ll need to contact us.
Cancellation penalties
Canceling a guest's reservation can have serious implications for their trip, so we may apply penalties if the cancellation does not meet certain extenuating circumstances.
