What guests need to know about a service or experience cancellation policy

We know clear cancellation policies are important to provide flexibility and peace of mind when booking a service or experience. Here’s how to find the cancellation policy for your service or experience reservation, whether you simply want to understand more or if you need to cancel.

Find the cancellation policy

Before you book: You can find cancellation details on the service or experience listing page under Things to know, and during the booking process—before you pay.

For a confirmed reservation: You can find info about a reservation you booked in the message thread with your host, or by checking your Trips. The cancellation policy is located under Reservation details.

Cancellation policies vary by service or experience listing. Most services and experiences on Airbnb will have a 1-day cancellation policy, allowing you to cancel until one day (24 hours) before the service or experience start time for a full refund. Select services and experiences will have a 3-day cancellation policy, allowing you to cancel until three days (72 hours) before the service or experience start time for a full refund.

If you cancel outside of the stated free cancellation period, you will not receive a refund, unless one of the circumstances below applies to your reservation, or if the host, at their discretion, agrees to provide you a full refund.

The times and dates we display for cancellation policies are based on the local time zone of the service or experience listing.

When you may still cancel for a refund outside of the free cancellation period

  • Major Disruptive Events: In the rare circumstance that a large-scale event at the location of your service or experience prevents completion of the reservation, you may be able to cancel for a refund under Airbnb's Major Disruptive Events Policy.
  • Issues while on your service experience: If you cancel because your service or experience is materially different than what was described at booking, you may be entitled to a refund under our refund policy for services and experiences even if you’re outside the free cancellation period.
  • Issue at an Airbnb home: If an issue at an Airbnb home prevents the service or experience from taking place at the home, you may be entitled to a refund under our refund policy for services and experiences even if you’re outside the free cancellation period.

Please note that poor weather is not considered an issue that would entitle a guest to a refund outside of the free cancellation period, unless the weather prevents the activity from taking place.

Our final decisions relating to cancellations and refunds do not affect other contractual or statutory rights that may be available to you. Any right that guests or hosts may have to initiate legal action remains unaffected.
