What you'll do
In this fun class, you will learn how to make five different mochi dishes! We will start class by hand-pounding glutinous sweet rice into authentic mochi! Next, you will enjoy a savory mochi soup, and a sweet version: fresh mochi filled with sweet red bean and fresh strawberries! Second, we will make a pink rosewater mochi, followed by matcha mochi, for our third dish. Fourth, we will make green tea mochi ice cream! We will end class by making delicious vanilla-glazed mochi donuts! Sweet red bean paste, fresh strawberries (upon availability), and chocolate will be available to fill your mochi with. You will get to eat a lot of mochi, and best of all take home a box with lots of homemade mochi to share! *If you are vegan, you can bring vegan ice cream with you. Please let me know if you are vegan in advance so I can prepare the vegan donut dough. **All dishes are gluten-free! (*however, we use normal miso for the soup) We love private parties and have done team building for employees of Airbnb, Lyft, AppDynamics, Facebook, and more!

I have always been passionate about teaching guests how to make delicious dishes from my Japanese heritage. I come from Fukushima, Japan and learned how to cook traditional Japanese meals and desserts from my mother. I learned how to make mochi many years ago with my friends, and have been making it for more than 20 years. In 2016, my daughter Kaori started Kaori's Kitchen cooking school. Together, we teach traditional mochi classes to guests across the SF Bay Area. We are excited to share our mochi-making skills with you, and delighted to keep this tradition alive. We are both very passionate about mochi and teach classes full time throughout the Bay Area. We have done mochi team building for Facebook, Google, and other companies throughout the Bay Area. Please contact us to book a team building event!
