What you'll do

1. Arrive and talk about everyone's story and ethics. The process of getting to know who you are working next to is just as important as your end result. 2. Mix up some 'Cob' (mud) to use in our design process. This is an ancient building material used by all of our ancestors to accomplish magnificent feats of engineering. Learn about how to source and select materials, and mix different recipes for various applications. 3. Build the house or structure of you wildest dreams! - to scale, like an architectural model. I will guide you every step of the way. Imagination leads to a sketch, and then the sculpture itself. All the materials and expertise you might need will be provided. 4. Photograph what you made! You'll be leaving the materials when you go, and I'll clean up the mess. 5. Discuss with the group how this experience changed your life. Living ecologically is the next big step for humanity, and it begins in small ways like this. Envision what you want and take steps toward it!

Learn more about Scott

Scott

Through my company, Earthen Hand Natural Building, I teach about Earthen Home Design, Sculpting, and Painting with natural materials. I teach in many locations world wide, and I've taught for nearly 20 years. Through my classes, I've given beautiful earthen buildings and art installations freely to schools, activists, and local communities. One of my earthbag domes is still among the biggest in the world. I've helped many students achieve their goals to build naturally. I love helping people design and create ecological, artistic structures. I received formal training in traditional earthen building design, plus dome & vault construction many years ago from several teachers. My other artistic accomplishments are in ceramics, and this workshop draws on that as well. I really enjoy having fun with my students in the creative process. :]
