What you'll do
The Music Mondays "where arts collide..." concert series showcases local professional jazz, classical and avant grade musicians giving them a creative outlet where their performance is part of a grander experience both sonic and visual. The Art on 3rd gallery is a space where artist, Rich Walker showcases his art from the painted floor, walls and ceiling! The unique artistic blend of visual and sonic art transports the audience to another world. While the harp is ever present in the Music Mondays shows, there is always an invited guest to perform with me. I share the stage with world renowned musicians who live locally in Southern California and Baja California. These musicians are colleagues, friends and incredible people who come to jam and make creative music with me! At a Music Mondays show you will very often hear the amazing voice of Leonard Patton singing melodies by Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau and Chick Corea. You may also hear the incredible and vast sounds of Christopher Garcia with his array of percussion instruments. These are just a couple of the talented colleagues who join me each month! While listening to the music, you will be immersed from the floor to the ceiling in the creative and colorful artistic mind of local artist, Rich Walker. There is hardly an inch of the large space that has not been touched by his paint brushes!
I am the curator and main performer for the Music Mondays concert series at the Chula Vista art gallery Art on 3rd. Having been a musician for most of my life, I have over 30 years experience performing. I hold a bachelors and two masters degrees in music performance from San Diego State University and the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and have performed throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe. I am passionate about breaking the perceived boundaries of my instrument and creating new sound while augmenting the repertoire for the harp. Through performance in both the classical avant-garde and the jazz realms, I have found an outlet to freely explore the vast sonic possibilities of the harp.
