What you'll do

Come experience the wonderful world of the honeybee where we encourage you to take pictures. We begin our two-hour journey in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This property belongs to Rose Kalajian owner of The Health Hut. A lot of the herbs and tinctures she makes are grown right on her little Farm! She has her very own herd of goats and chickens! After a short tour of her farm we will begin with a demonstration of the equipment utilized in beekeeping as well as dressing up in our full bee suits and then immediately start the hands-on experience. At this point you will be able to see, feel, hear and touch apis mellifera (the European honey bee!) as I guide you to a better understanding of these amazing creatures. During our time together you will manipulate equipment, ask questions and get a practical appreciation of the bees. After, you will enjoy a refreshment while we discuss your recent experiences. Upon completion, we provide a 5 oz honey jar and honey dipper to say thank you and as a memento of being a beekeper for a day!
Other things to note: Know there is always a chance of getting stung, So if you are allergic to bees please come with your epi-pen or choose a different experience. We want you to come away from this experience feeling alive and in tune with the natural world. The climate here can be hot and humid or cold and damp, please dress accordingly.

As a university educated Biologist and professional beekeeper I provide hands-on experiences for novice beekeepers and the curious alike. Working with, educating about and protecting Living creatures is a lifelong passion which has taken me halfway around the world and back again! From the farms of Kansas to educating my children while living in Africa and finally to beautiful Tampa, Florida I have always been fascinated with the idea that if you look close enough you can find the beauty in every living thing. Showing this beauty is the goal of every encounter as it seems many people are talking about pollinating insects and how their dwindling populations are impacting everything from wildlife diversity to food production.

Where you'll be

Your bee experience begins at The Natural Health Hut. Situated in the middle of a neighborhood . Please use the entrance nearest her welcome sign.. the goat pen should be on your right. This is a very lush green place and so plenty of bugs and mosquitoes. But don’t worry once you are in your bee suit they won’t bother you.

This experience was AMAZING!! Wow, so unique and something I’ll be talking about for years to come. My best friend and I did this on a whim. Stephanie was great, had everything for us. She’s knowledgeable but friendly and laid back. I didn’t feel overwhelmed with the information, it was super interesting but most of all FUN! We are both in our mid-30s and love to travel. Since that’s not really much of an option due to Covid, this was the perfect alternative. BOOK THIS RIGHT NOW!!!

Wow! Un-BEE-livable experience for my wife and me. This was such a great learning experience and Stephanie was great. We all wanted to become beekeepers by the end. We will enthusiastically recommend this to all our friends.

I was skeptical of all the 5 star reviews - i was so wrong. What a great experience!!! Stephanie is extremely knowledgeable and is a great 'bee' teacher. Excellent hands on experience! Will be recommending to friends and family.

Highly recommend this activity! We had 2 adults and 2 children and all of us had a great time. The hosts do a great job at describing everything in a clear manner. We felt safe the entire time (also safe with covid concerns). If you are looking for something to do off the beaten path and private, then go for it.

DO IT. This was one of the coolest things I've done in a while(I'm even a scubadiver) and this experience was SO COOL. Me and 3 others did this experience and we got to all actively work the equipment and we learned so much about bees and bee keeping and we are SERIOUSLY considering getting our own starter hive!

Beekeeping For a Day was one of our highlights while visiting Tampa. Stephanie accommodated our schedule and provided an experience that well exceeded our expectations. We were a bit hesitant at first, but quickly realized that Stephanie was taking every precaution in keeping us sting-free. We knew a little about bees when we arrived, but left that day with so much more knowledge about beekeeping and how important bees are to our world. It was a bee-autiful day!
