What you'll do
Some places only come alive after dark, or at least in the later hours of the day - and indeed that might be said of Dublin. At evening time the city's majestic architecture, its wrought-iron railings and bridges take on an eerie, almost Dickensian look. And yet this is Ireland, and the nearby pubs teem with banter and the strains of lively Irish music played on the fiddle and on the tin whistle. . . Our tour will take us from the iconic Spire which dominates O'Connell Street past the General Post Office - Mothership of the 1916 Rising, and onwards to the city's haunted Ha'penny Bridge. We'll briefly immerse ourselves in a more contemporary Dublin as we visit the lively Temple Bar district, and hear about Dublin's prodigious output of rock musicians as we pass Rory Gallagher corner and The Project - the club where the group U2 were originally spotted by talent scout Paul McGuinness. We'll then walk through the tranquil grounds of Trinity College before viewing the Irish Parliament building, and the elegant Mansion House - home to Dublin's Lord Mayor and the first dedicated mayoral residence in either Ireland or Britain. Our evening stroll finally concludes at the Molly Malone statue, opposite O'Neills Gastropub.... I'll then let you know who the legendary Molly Malone really was - and tell you the tragic secret of her beauty!
I'm an experienced Dublin Tour Guide with over 400 5-star reviews to my name online, and have been tour guiding for nearly 10 years now; I've led bus tours not only around Dublin but also to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare and the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland (with Wild Rover Tours). I am regularly in demand with most of the main walking tour operators in the Irish Capital, and like to spice up my tour content with quirky and unusual items such as referencing the Viking Sagas (which mention a lot about Dublin), the fact that Ireland once had its own time zone (did you know that?), as well as a little of our local Dublin humor.
Just in case the Irish rain puts in an unscheduled appearance.... the hot drinks are on me ;-)
My grandfather used to say Ireland would be a great country if you could put a roof over it...he was right! I'll have a few…
