About your host

My studies in Korean history led me to moving here. I work with other Korean historians and folklorists in creating this experience. I regularly give lectures about the dark side of Korean history to organizations. My team is publishing a comic book about Korea's dark history and folklore.

What we’ll do

From there, we venture to Unhyeongung, a minor palace that housed…

What else you should know

18 years and older, please. Some stories are sexual and violent in nature. The tour runs during all weather except in cases when it may be harmful to guests. There is a lot of walking on this tour. It is wheelchair accessible, but we don't recommend it if it is painful or slow to walk long distances

What to bring

Comfortable walking shoes
Umbrella (if it may rain)

Where you'll be

The Alley of Ashes is called that because it was burned to the ground to get rid of the stench from putrefying corpses after a massacre in the 1500s. Unhyeongung housed a ruler who murdered over 3,000 Christians. Pimatgol Alley played a crucial role in South Korea's democracy movement. The Cheonggyecheon Stream carries a dark past that the tourism organization would rather you not know. Plus more interesting landmarks and surprises.
