  2. Hosted in English, Spanish, and Croatian

What you'll do

You enjoyed sightseeing and relaxing at the beach? Now it’s time for an active holiday! What’s better to escape the crowds of Split than a day in nature, breathing the fresh mountain air, enjoying a glass of wine?
We’ll pick you up from your accommodation and drive to Mosor mountain, where our hike will begin. We’ll go up through rocky terrain and incredible panoramic views of Brač, Šolta, Hvar and Vis islands, and of the bay and city of Split. On the way up we’ll pass through a forest and reach a beautiful meadow, where we’ll have a picnic and enjoy a glass of wine (or three) while answering all your questions about Croatian wine.
Up to here the level of difficulty is moderate –even if you’re not too fit, if we take it slow, you’ll be able to reach it.
A few meters above there’s Umberto Girometta mountain hut, built in 1931, and used as a hospital during World War II. We can either relax in the meadow or continue the hike all the way up to the summit.
We have plenty of time to spend with you, so the hike will be at your rhythm, exploring as much as you want or stopping as much as you need (to catch your breath, to take photos, or to just admire the jaw dropping scenery). It’s a completely personalized experience! Treat yourself to it to actually enjoy the day out, because you don’t really escape the crowds with another 20 people setting the pace for you, right?

Starting altitude: 590 meters (1935 feet)

Highest peak: 1325 meters (4347 feet)

We are a Croatian-Chilean couple that love the outdoors. We go hiking every chance we get! We also love wine, and over the years traveling and tasting wine around the world, we’ve learnt quite a bit about it.
Sina has 20 years of experience mountaineering and I been hiking since I was a little girl (following my Andinist dad's steps).
We thought of a way to combine hike & wine to make the most out of a day in Split, because the best way to experience Dalmatia is to be outdoors exploring the Dinaric Alps, with a great view of the city and the islands, enjoying Croatian wine and food!
We know hiking is an experience that is different for everyone, so we’re offering a personalized adventure. We’ll go at your own pace, and we’ll make sure you have an amazing day!

Where you'll be

Join us all year around! Spring and autumn are perfect weather wise, but summer and winter give you the best views. Summers are quite hot, but don’t worry much, we’ll start early to avoid the peak of temperature, and we’ll spend time in a shaded meadow. You’ll be rewarded with the most amazing views of the Croatian seaside. During winter there might be snow, giving you a rare opportunity to see the Dalmatian coast from a winter wonderland.

Spending this day, which was our last in Split, with Connie and her boyfriend, an experienced mountaineer, couldn’t have made us happier. Our two girls and my husband and I had such a wonderful time on this hike, we will remember it as one of the most special experiences we’ve really ever had in the company of a remarkable couple. It’s not often you meet people as bright, kind, terribly generous, and sincerely humble, we were very lucky. The hike itself was fantastic, and the views astounding. Was such a personal, intimate time, we would strongly recommend it as a uniquely memorable opportunity not to be missed. Thank you for all the laughs and good memories Connie.

This experience was very accommodating. They picked me up from where I was staying. We then went into the mountains and I never felt anything was unorganized or unsafe. They were truly knowledgeable about the hike, and were very fun to be around. Would recommend to anyone looking to gain a different perspective about Split by heading into the mountains.
