What you'll do
When guest arrive they will be greeted by me in my lovely home that has a soap studio set up. While the guest are settling in and helping themselves to some snacks and beverages that will be provided I take this opportunity to get to know each guest while we wait for all to arrive. Once everyone has arrived then this is where the fun part starts, we start by getting to know one another a little and going over safety gear and our instructional folders which will be provided. Weather permitted we will take a tour of the Barnyards garden and see first hand what will be used in the workshop and learn the benefits of incorporating organic produce into your shower routine for a healthier and better you. We will then begin the actual soap making process and becoming comfortable working with Lye. You will get to use a variety of different dried botanicals and powders to make your own unique soap. Length of workshop should take about 3 to 3.5 hours long and each guest will take home their one pound soap in a food grade closed container for safe transportation.
Homemade cookies, mixed nuts and fruit(apples, oranges, and bananas).
I'm the founder of the Amazing Brooklyn Barnyard right here in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. I've been a soap maker for over 9 years and I absolutely love to instruct and help others harness the art of cold process soap making using simple but effective ingredients from your own garden and organic markets. You can truly enrich your life by making your own skin care and health products right from your own home and I'm thrilled to teach you how. We will spend time in the Barnyards vegetable garden, learning what can be used in more ways than just in your kitchen. In my spare time I like to travel to upstate NY and forage wild botanicals and ingredients directly from nature and incorporate them in my workshops for everyone to use. I'm a nature enthusiast & urban farmer here to help show you how to apply nature in more ways than one.
