What you'll do
Spend a day with your finger on the rhythmic pulse of Cuban music. We’ll meet at a home studio where you’ll take a front row seat to the modern music scene. Press play: To begin, learn about the complex history of music in Cuba through personal stories and music documentaries. You’ll even get a peek at some documentaries currently in production. Skip to the next song: Head to a fascinating record store set inside the home of a local music aficionado. Rummage through stacks of vintage records and purchase a rare vinyl to dance to back home.
I’m DJ Jigue, an Afro-Cuban DJ and producer. I’ve dedicated my life to sharing my passion for Cuban music with the rest of the world. In 2015, I started Guampara Music, the first independent label for urban music in Cuba—no easy feat in this country. I’ve been featured in music documentaries and major music publications such as Vice, The Fader, and Pitchfork, and have traveled internationally to share my music.

We’ll start at the my home studio, then head to the house of a vinyl lover who has been building his collection for 40 years. It's one of the only places to find authentic vinyl in Havana.
